As is usually the case.

Where in the show is this mentioned?

It's not mentioned at all. But we see Lord Umber leading troops as Robb's 2nd or 3rd hand man, and then we don't see him anymore. Later on, when Karstark defies Robb and gets beheaded, the remaining few talk about how much of Robb's army had deserted them. It's a fair assumption that Umber was part of the 50%+ who left, since we don't see him around anywhere.

This, can't wrap my head around it. She's not the best character, but her role is important and she clearly isn't just a whore.

She's an annoying skank whose every scene is the same - nothing but bitching and moaning to Tyrion. Whats not to hate?
04-09-2014 , 02:23 PM
Put me on the Shae hater list. She sucks.
04-09-2014 , 02:53 PM
I can't figure if her relationship with Tyrion is all an act as per their agreement or if she actually started liking him. But yes she is super annoying.

I despise shae

Lol that miget needs to man up and Dick her down. All he had to do is hit that. Easdropper would have been gone and his wife wouldn't be getting got. Next time man up and tap that.

I don't think it's a fair assumption at all. In fact I think you're wrong and the Umbers are ok.

We'll see I guess.

I don't think they would just have him desert the Starks with no mention of it. Yes, we don't see him, but he was a pretty minor character and it could just have been to focus on Bolton and Karstark since they explicitly desert the Starks.

Regarding the desertion, its only mentioned how much the loss of the Karstarks hurt Robb - there is no mention of other bannermen leaving.

just re-watched s4e1. Feel pretty stupid for asking about Arya's sword; guess I completely missed the bit where she recognises the guy who took it and that's the whole reason they end up in that tavern.

This show definitely benefits from re-watching! Especially for a lazy / dumb viewer like me.

I have another question though. Where is the Mountain at this point? Is he anywhere near KL? If so it's not difficult to predict some sort of fight with the bisexual musketeer guy.
04-09-2014 , 07:03 PM
The Mountain is wherever Arya/Hound are right now which I presume to be near The Twins given those men were in his army

Shae gets too much hate. You'd be annoying too if the person you were in love with just married someone else instead of taking your offer to go live in paradise drinking and ****ing all day. She's a well-written character and similar to a lot of women I know.
04-09-2014 , 07:23 PM
to be fair, she also has a stupid accent and a stupid face

They mentioned losing more than half of his troops. That means a whole bunch of bannermen had to leave besides Karstark and Bolton. Why do you think they would all warrant screentime or mention?

I stand by what I said. It's a fair assumption to make that anyone who is missing from Robb's army deserted him. Better assumption than believing they died off screen or went to McDonalds for lunch or something else.

Do they refer to themselves in the third person as "the funny whore?"

OurHouse, I think Umber going home is an alright deduction. The other possibility is him and all of his men were murdered at the Red Wedding. All the remainder of Robb's army not under Bolton's control was slaughtered afaict. It's safe to assume that Rickon isn't headed to a safe place either way.
04-09-2014 , 08:36 PM
yea that, unless they sided with the Bolton's for some reason. In which case, they're still ****ed
04-09-2014 , 08:59 PM
Seriously doubt the Umber's are going to kill/endanger an innocent 7 year old of a family they were loyal to for probably hundreds of years all because Robb was kind of a douche.
04-09-2014 , 09:02 PM
Just thought about this: Pretty surprised Joff hasn't given out a bounty on Hounds head yet.

THANK YOU VIX AND S.U.E.! I finally get some support on the theory.

I'd be shocked if they didn't, lol.
