It feels like a couple years over the course of the show so far?

Which is strange, because Arya and Hound were essentially in the same place they were at the end of season 3. What did they do for months? Nothing? I mean, I know it's a 30 day trip by horse from KL to Winterfell (as stated in the pilot episode), and I also know that's at a slow pace, with an entire cavalry. The Vale is where Hound said they were going. If months passed and they started at The Twins of Frey, they should have been there by now.

I figured it was Robb's sword they melted down, especially with the wolf head.

Even if correct it's a pretty nitty observation imo.

Yeah, same here, with the wolf head. But then I realized that the two scenes right before it in the "previously" had featured Ned and his sword.

I thought he said 3 weeks? Anyway I don't think every storyline is necessarily happening in parallel. It may not have been 3 weeks since Hound/Arya left the Twins.

re: jester dude. i'm assuming he's showing up again because he'll either try to murder somebody high profile at the wedding or, like, throw himself in front of an arrow for sansa or something.

i think what's tiresome about the khaleesi story line is that everyone kind of assumes she's going to finish building up this army and come over and go all dragonballs on westeros / white walkers / whatever. so the "action" parts of her storyline don't have a ton of suspense and we're just left with her personal development as a ruler. other characters develop quite a bit, but it always happens in the context of suspense / action, so is less likely to get tiresome. basically if they want to rescue the dany storyline, we know she's not going to actually get killed or lose her army, so somebody else in her entourage is gonna have to bite it. my money's on jorah, but i guess dario is also a good candidate since she can't have a bf hangin around when she presumably needs to marry some dick in westeros for like politics or something.

i felt like the show made an obvious effort to have more funny little bits like the jamie wave, the hound bantering with arya, the bronn / tyrion gags. and i enjoyed them but i also don't want them to overdo it.

good catch on the cersei abortion thing whoever that was, but who did she bang yo? did i miss something?
04-07-2014 , 11:52 PM
Yeah Jamie said "I've been back for weeks"
04-07-2014 , 11:52 PM
I thought we knew from previous seasons and interviews with the show runners that not everyone's stories run simultaneously. So like if 3 months passes in KL, that doesn't necessarily mean that in the next scene at the Wall that 1 month has passed there too. Could be wrong tho.

Her cousin I think? The kid who was feeding Tyrion info after he ****ed her.

What abortion thing? Did I completely miss that?

Here's hoping Daario is a triple-agent shape-shifter.

I like that they took a "light hearted" approach to the opener, lots of humor, and even the dark stuff involved characters we love doing things we love to see them do.

My favorite moment of the episode is when Jon Snow is listing the bands of Wildlings Mance has assembled-- when he gets to giants Slynt laughs, but as he looks from side to side he realizes he's unexpectedly laughing alone.

They definitely aren't although I can't point to something to prove my csse off the top of my head

I immediately thought this as well. Total ripoff of Deadwood.

I'm actually hoping that Daario gets killed off relatively soon because of how awful that recast was.

'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Premiere Hits New High

Quote:
With swords in hand and palace intrigue in the shadows, HBO’s Game Of Thrones was back for its fourth season last night with a record-breaking 6.6 million viewers. That’s up 52% over the 4.4 million who tuned in for the Season 3 debut on March 31, 2013 – no wonder GoT crashed HBO Go last night. Sunday’s viewership result is not only the most watched GoT episode ever but is the second-best result HBO has seen since the 11.9 million who watched the series finale of The Sopranos back in 2007. The Season 4 opener also soared 23% up from the 5.4 million viewers the Season 3 finale drew on June 9. Until last night, the most-watched GoT episode ever was the May 5, 2013, airing that pulled in an audience of 5.5 million. With two more plays last night, GoT had a gross audience of 8.2 million on Sunday.

I think it's probably for Joffrey - a wedding present maybe.

The sword was the Stark family sword. I can't remember if they said the swords name or not.

Idk, if you watch on hbogo, there is no "previously" part

Are the directors/creators comments about the EP spoilers? I don't think so, but

Spoiler:
he called the sword "ice", but don't know whose sword that makes it

there was no "previously on GOT" intro on sky atlantic in UK either, which is great as I hate being given advance notice of what to expect.

I have a question. What happened to Arya's sword, Needle?

She got it back in this episode, or do you mean originally?
