I think after a point of so much stress especially from the threat of losing your life you just get phased, just desensitized to it all and just stop caring to a certain degree. That prolly kicked in as well as the curiosity of why/what exactly is going on with his pops trying to have him sentenced to death. Seemed he was seeking answers but ended up on a lil killing spree instead. It just kinda played out that way in a natural way.

YOU RAPED HER.... YOU MURDERED HER....

YOU KILLED HER CHILDREN!!!

man..can get this scene out of my head... the scream .... gives me chills thinking bout it.

Traumatized.

Will miss you prince Oberyn. LOL

well you can't really put it that way as tywin is your joe average dad and neither is their relationship the typical dad-son relationship

Again he's not thinking, in fact he's very "un-Tyrion", he's been beaten over and over by the world and mostly by one man, his father...

Haven't you ever been so emotionally distraught that the only action you can think of is "talking" to the person who's hurt you. That's where hes going with this ..he wants to find out "why" (as illogical as that is), however he find Shae and now the doesn't matter ..now its full on homicidal rage..he's not thinking anymore, he doesn't "love life" right now, hes been pushed beyond his breaking point...

Finally got round to watching it this week, as well as a season 3 rewatch beforehand.

Sad there was no Brotherhood without Banners. I've been a big fan of Paul Kaye for years and thought he was great as Thoros. Hopefully they'll be back in the future.

I'm not sure about the Hound. They definitely implied that he was going to die, but of course we don't see it and it may of been done to create more of an impact if/when he returns. For me it'd feel a bit odd if he is dead as there would be no closure with the Hound vs. Mountain story, which has been referred to several times, but I guess GRRM isn't you're stereotypical writer.

I'd love the show to have a few more episodes per season, not just because it'd be more GoT! but I really think it would help with the storytelling. They do a fantastic job already considering the scale of it all, but sometimes it can feel slightly rushed or disjointed, couple of examples off the top of my head; Stannis' sudden appearance in the North and Gendry's rowing trip.

After vowing to after the past two seasons ended, I've finally started reading. Don't wanna wait anymore. About halfway through the first book and it's great. The extra details and back stories are great, especially knowing what happens to some of the characters.

Farewell, non book reader thread.

As I mentioned earlier, my wife is now watching this for the first time. She's in Season 2 and of course I've watched most of it with her.

The thing I'm taking away from it right now is that every time I hear the word "Dothraki," I think of the bad-guy race of lion-people from the old Wing Commander PC game.

It wasn't only the Hound who died off-screen, but Tywin too. Can we be certain of Tywin's death?

I was thinking that too, but I'm pretty sure the bells were chiming to signify the death of the Hand.
07-03-2014 , 12:52 PM
Tywin is defo a goner. He died on screen. Watch his body slump and hand fall. The chiming bells signal his death too, but is gratuitous
07-03-2014 , 01:10 PM
It's pretty clear Tywin dies on screen imo.
07-03-2014 , 04:11 PM
Or they could have been signifying "Sound the alarm! Somebody shot the ****ing Hand is on the loose!"

He was shot in the heart, he's dead.
07-03-2014 , 08:13 PM
Tywin is definitely a goner. Shot through the heart with an arrow is as close to death in GOT as getting your face smashed by a giant.

Hound on the other hand is a different story.
07-04-2014 , 07:58 AM
Kinda weird...I would be annoyed if the Hound was still alive, but I think it'd be a nice twist if Tywin was still alive. I guess I feel that way b/c if the Hound survived that would be pretty cliche
07-04-2014 , 09:32 AM
tywin probably is dead but neither of those arrows went through his heart, the first is too low and the second is too high. the ****ing mountain was stabbed straight through his ****ing heart but you see them bringing his stupid ass back to life. GRRM is a colossal neckbeard basement dweller who likes to **** with people, and at this point you'd be a total donk to speak certainly about matters that aren't actually resolved.
07-04-2014 , 09:34 AM
"oh he lost consciousness and his hand fell, then some fkn bells rang, yup, hes 100% for sure dead"

fish

Tywin living would be more cliche. He was much closer to death

Hound dying would be one of the looser deaths in cinema. He doesn't die as arya walks away, he doesn't die an hour after she leaves, he probably doesn't even die a day or two after. It all depends on what we assume about his bleeding open wound, which is a type of thing Hollywood is inconsistent with. A million times in cinema do characters have similar injuries and live. They tear up their shirt and tie off their leg and crawl somewhere and get spotted and picked up by wanderers

If Hound's name was Ned Stark, we would get more scenes with him. Hound is such an incredible, iconoclastic character. It saddens me that im not sure the writers realize that they can do virtually anything with him now since they broke him. All other literature involves breaking the main character, but it's usually mild and single-issue and serves a specific purpose. Hound has been broken on the most fundamental, meaningful level possible. The sky is the limit for a character that has been truly broken yet still has the audience rooting for him.

Killing Hound is just so inconsistent with what the writers do with every other character. They've been breaking all the main characters, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Jaime, and this breaking is integral in turning them into something they wouldn't otherwise be. Yet none of them have been as broken as Hound. Additionally, all the major character deaths have been with one-dimensional, non-broken characters, Ned, Robb, Tywin, Oberyn, etc

From a literary perspective, I think killing Hound is a terrible idea. Here's to hoping I'm right.

I'm kind of surprised nothing happened with the bite, seems like that was going to be important. Either way, I still think he's alive and that he'll meet his brother sometime, but maybe that prediction is too predictable. A big duel between the Hound and the Mountain could be cliche, a bit depending on how it's done.

The ringing of the bell is an indication of the hand of the king dying or about to die/be executed. They did this with Ned when he was set to be be beheaded.
07-05-2014 , 02:04 AM
I think the bite/infection was to weaken him enough to make us believe he could lose a fight to a girl
07-05-2014 , 08:32 AM
No its not, its a bell ringing
