Yes, and as an example for others, posts like this should be a PM to myself or another OOTV mod and not posted here.

This poster has just been infracted 20 points for posting in this thread, which will be the new method of enforcement. If you reach 100 you are perma'd.

This is exactly the type of crap I'm not putting up with any longer in this dang thread.

Whatever happens, definitely stay out of the Book thread 100%

In for game of thrones discussion. Out for other bull**** that makes up most of this thread already. Can't wait for this season!

I have no idea whether I will ever want to post ITT under this new kindler, gentler administration, but in case I do, I might as well get my request in now.

To save you some homework, here is a list of all my posts in the previous no book spoilers thread, except for about a half-dozen posts discussing the rules.

Show-based correction of misinformation
Humour (Monty Python reference)
And again
Show-based answer/explanation
Show-based speculation
Discussion of the accent actor Peter Gillen uses for Littlefinger
Ditto
Show-based speculation
British actors in the Wire, Re Littlefinger's voice
Best actors in show
What Tyrion could have done; the show's use of multiple viewpoints
Tyrion's changing attitude on WWs
Show-based analysis of possible Lannister reaction to Stannis going North
House-by-house prediction of season 4's geopolitical situation, which previous mod didn't find spoilerish. And neither should you. It's based entirely on themes from the show and the non-book thread. Partly tongue-in-cheek.
Extending a show plot point; the show's approach to ambiguity
MFK submission

... 1/2 year gap ...

Ned and honour
Interpreting "Ice"and "Fire"
A non-spoilery comparison of presence of nudity in books and show; and again
Communications gap between Rob's camp and the North
On why Dany mispronounces "Qarth".
Was that a rat or a polecat?
A brief contribution to the discussion of Dinklage's other roles.
What if they killed Sansa? Parody response and The Hound
On accents
Discussions on army strategy, supply and organization based on the sort of books GRRM liked to read, not his books.
On the significance of placing Tyrion in the vanguard (1, 2, 3 and 4) argued wrt action and dialog from the show.
Arguing against conclusions not based on evidence from the show (1 and 2)
Who's hand if Tywin beats Robb in the first battle?
Arya and the three guys in the cage
Tywin's view of Tyrion after the battle

I would suggest that this list illustrates several different ways book-readers can legitimately participate in the thread, including (but not limited to):
  • Discussion of acting, casting, and production
  • Discussion of themes, symbolism and viewpoint
  • Discussion of specific visuals or sound from the show
  • Discussion of sources and influences from real life history and other writers in the genre
  • Correction of misinformation or misunderstanding (esp. by citing evidence from the show)
  • Speculation about what-ifs that did not occur.
  • Discussion of the significance of things left to viewer interpretation rather than factually established in the books (using only evidence from the show ofc.)
  • Non-plot (and therefore non-spoilery) comparison of show to books
  • Humour

Hopefully by April all this **** gets sorted out, because I'd like to see the focus back on the show once it resumes.
02-28-2014 , 06:26 PM
I don't think that was ever up in the air. When the show starts up again all this petty bull**** will be forgotten.
02-28-2014 , 06:44 PM
The non show related thread drama made the last month much more interesting and entertaining than the other ones where the show isn't on.
02-28-2014 , 07:01 PM
Yeah I read some of it and it was almost as good as the show but not as good as the book
02-28-2014 , 07:48 PM
I suggest editing the first post or the title to say when season 4's first episode airs.
02-28-2014 , 11:31 PM
New thread? Boo.

I gotta get the bluray, anyone go through all that yet?
02-28-2014 , 11:35 PM
Of s3 ldo

My first instinct was to ask you couldn't have just edited your post? and then I looked at your post count, and was like that makes sense.

requesting. My posting style in the no book thread has always been very zeroth level observations about the show, stuff commenting on the acting and such. I think I do a good job sticking to that and not interjecting any bookreader knowledge.

This upcoming season has a great chance of being the best single season of any drama ever. Can't wait!

Requesting, and if not just want to be in participated thread to still warn tv show friends if they should ignore a poster.

Requesting/subscribing. Track record in non book thread is fine.
