This.

So tilting. We only get 10 episodes a season and they waste an entire episode on this? Feels like they wanted to make an elaborate battle episode and it ended up falling flat on its face.

I'd like to see how they try to rush and wrap up the season in 60 mins next week. Heck, not even 60 mins, as most of these episodes are only about 54.

So tilted that that battle was the ENTIRE episode

That's an hour I'll never get back

This was incredible lol, i loved it, blasted off the whole roof of the platform they were standing on too. Those giant character models looked soooo good, I mean TV show wat. I wish they had showed the fight with the giant in the tunnel though, they def had the capacity to do so.

Giant archer was badass. 4-5 of those guys could wipe out everything.

I thought that was a pretty good episode. The beginning of the fight was really exciting

Music was incredible this ep. Disappointed no KL fallout, but expected conflict at the wall and as usual ep09 delivers fully
06-09-2014 , 05:38 AM
So it turns out this show is pretty bad if they focus on any one story for too long? Jesus that was weak.

Giant archer shooting that guy was probably best moment of the episode. Overall I liked it alot tho, can imagine tho that if you don't give a crap about the North this was the worst one this season.

Wow surprised this ep is getting so much hate

i thought it was incredible, i had this weird nervous/excited feeling in my stomach the whole episode.
06-09-2014 , 07:34 AM
That episode was amazing.

Soul crushing. But amazing.

Yeah I kind of feel like they've lost track of this. It seems like this season has had needless action scenes multiple times, probably to appeal to the masses.

One of these days the guy who just sits down and cries at the middle of a battlefield is going to have his head chopped off. It would've been hilarious if yesterday had been that day.

LOL I thought the ep was pretty sweet but whats more entertaining is watching the reactions to the show between my 2 favorite forums. 2 complete polar opposites, you guys are ****ting all over it while the other forum is jizzing in their pants about it.

It's interesting cuz I can see where both groups are coming from. I thought it was pretty dope but it did seem rather dumbed down, like the giant going in the tunnel alone/not propping up the gate, giant archer being able to hit its target on top of the all so accurately, the small amount of wildlings attacking from the south when they expected a bigger force at Castle Black, prolly some other crap but was to blazed at the time to remember now.

I'm really looking forward to the finale and being able to watch the whole season over again. Just wish Oberyn woulda died and I was spoiled on his death.

The more I think about it that was the worst planned siege imaginable. I'm not military tactician but it seems like basically every part was suboptimal.

So just to review, Mance united all these warring tribes by telling them they would die if they didn't join together. But was it because of the White Walker threat or because it was going to get too cold for them to survive that far north?
06-09-2014 , 09:08 AM
So as far as Manse knows, is Jon Snow still a deserter from the Night's Watch?
06-09-2014 , 09:37 AM
I think commander-in-charge Flynt (?) deserves a mention. He showed that other than the ****mouth he's been portrayed as so far, he was actually a bad ass mother****er. So long, commander.

This wasn't dumbed down or bad strategy. it was a show of emotion. the giant got pissed that his mastodon got hurt, and he freaked out and went solo for revenge. At that point, he was on his own. The mission was for him to retreat with everyone else, not go forward.

that wasn't even the guy he was aiming for though.

it wasn't a real attack, just a test of the defenses. They have 100k people. They sent in 100 just to see what's what, so they suffer minimal losses during the actual seige.

not the cold. they've been up there through many winters before.

I don't remember his name either but I was impressed. Who was he before he joined the Watch? I was rooting for Jon to push him off the top of the wall though at the beginning of the episode.

Great episode. Better than most feature movies. Giants shooting giant arrows, mammoth, flaming arrows, oil drums, giant scythe, direwolf, Ygiritte, hammer to the head, Sam's crossbow shot, "nock ....loose". "We''ll go back to the cave again".

Obviously Jon Snow will succeed just like Oberyn, Ned Stark, Rob Stark, etc were expected to do. "Critics, you know nothing"

Other than wasting the people south of the wall, it wasn't that badly planned. Mance believed that the Night's Watch had nearly 1,000 men. Had he sent his full force against that, losses could have been severe. He tested their defenses (at the cost of maybe a few hundred men and two giants) and now knows he can pretty easily open the gate and get men inside. He also knows that if he sends climbers, he should send them staggered.

As mentioned, he has plenty of men and should have enough time - no need to go all-in on day one.

That was Thorne. Flynt was the one he left in charge at the top of wall who ended up cowering in the room with Gilly and baby Sam.

Pretty sure the WWs.

Good point. I thought he'd dress like a wildling though and he went over there in is normal Night's Watch clothes. Regardless I'd expect a ~0% chance Mance would trust him if he's the only one to come back alive. It was a pretty damn dumb decision to send a recent NW deserter on the mission over the wall to begin with though so maybe he's just really really dumb.
