I like the night King going straight to kings landing now.

Night King... Kings landing! That's where he belongs!

The scene w Tormund and the nights watch duded made me cringe. Like if he really thought Tormunds blue eyes were cause he had been turned, he would have attacked.

Pretty simple spot of if you disagree you can take it up with the dragon.

Just to clarify that post, I understand the cynical part of Sansa being a cynical wise ruler. It is the wise ruler part which I feel was not developed at all, and will occur under LF's tutelage in the Vale during Winds of Winter.

What is the reasoning behind condensing GOT?

Surely each series is money in the bank even given the budget? Am I off there?

No one would have minded surely, pretty sure they could have kept audience interest if they had spent more time developing certain arcs etc?

It's a good question. A quick poke around the internet suggests HBO are keen for the series to end so then can send it to syndication:

Quote:
And this is all peanuts compared to what the show will earn once it has ended and HBO sends it into syndication, meaning that it will be broadcast as reruns on multiple channels for years, if not decades. That will essentially be free money and free marketing for HBO, as the syndicated Game of Thrones will series will also serve to remind viewers of the five reported spinoffs being developed by HBO, of whom at least one will be on air. This is also why HBO wants the show to end; they want to transition to the phase where they earn billions from this show by spending almost nothing.

Also, all the stars are aging. Bran already looks nothing like he's supposed to. Emilia Clarke looks older, we can't have a middle aged Daenerys. They're lucky Arya still looks like a kid.

Add in 10k or so unsullied (she bought 8K plus 5k boys, but assume she's lost a decent number in Essos). Then you have about 20-30k knights of the Vale and say 5-10k Northern troops + wildlings, with the possibility of another 20-30k Lannisters coming.

Add in horses and other support units and that is a lot of food needed (food stores that would last a 10k population a few years, would only last a 100k army a few months).

Sure, if the Army of the Dead attacks quickly it's not an issue, but given how much they've been taking their time, it could be quite a while, especially if they attack smaller holdings on their way. The Night King is probably in no hurry, so maybe he wants to take Castle Black, the Last Hearth, Karhold, etc. before heading to Winterfell. Could be months before he arrives. If that is the case, then food may run out if Dany just waits in Winterfell.

Basically, the point that Sansa is (or at least should be making) is that Dany can't just sit indefinitely in Winterfell waiting for the Night King to arrive. If he's not on the way, she would need to ride out and meet him. That said, it looks like he's heading straight for Winterfell, so this is likely a moot point, but I still think it's a valid concern.
Yeah, I thought it was a decent but obvious point that food is an issue for a massive army. But then she's also shown as questioning Jon for giving up the crown to get Dany's forces, so she's still kind of a dunce.

I would also like to see this but the new opening credits kinda lead us to believe they're making for Winterhell

I think it was on Binge Mode I heard the budget was $10-$15 million per episode, they've ended other series earlier with big (but not that big) budgets. 'Rome' comes to mind. I would think that at least factors in.

But that said, anecdotally I know five people who plan on cancelling HBO the day after the series ends so maybe it is still worth it even at that cost /shrug

It's funny you say that cuz GOT is the #1 reason I keep HBO. They used to have tons of high level shows but it's been a while since that era. Now it seems hit or miss with some in the middle.

Not necessarily, it show the gap in the wall and then the blue representing the Nigh King making it's way to the Last Hearth, but not going any further. It does then pan to Winterfell, which could indicate the Night King's path, but could also just be because it's the next closest location.

They are sure are taking their sweet ass time with pleasantries for a show with only 4 episodes left. It really doesn't seem like they have anything interesting planned except the obvious, two battles and clegane bowl. They couldn't even come up with an interesting title for this episode so they just made 69 jokes?

It felt like a goodbye to a lot of characters. Body count going to be high next week.

Everybody is real confident the crypts are the safest place to be.

It seems odd that a place where dead bodies are stored is so safe against the Night King.

Anyway, I think there's probably a big crypt reveal coming in the next episode.
04-21-2019 , 11:14 PM
Haha

"An army of the dead is coming, lead by a dude who can raise the dead! Where should we hide?"
"I know! The room with all the dead bodies!"

Dolorous Edd is excellent.

Guest appearance by Ghost.

I'm surprised Arya didn't go full nude(not that i wanted to see) but everyone else who have done a sex scene goes full on nudity.

Why would Jon even tell Dany about his family lineage before a major battle?

Giant battle between the living & the dead and some twist with Cersei; i mean, isn't that what we all thought this whole season was about?

Because Jon is Jon and he can’t do it any other way.

Complaining about this episode is silly. It was an absolutely beautiful hour. Loved every minute. I shed a tear at Brienne being knighted.

Arya looks 12. That scene felt kind of icky.

Ugh. No.

The whole point of this show was that battles were won by people who would stab someone in the groin while they arent looking instead of people who care about honour and knighthoods

Since when did that all change?
04-22-2019 , 12:17 AM
I just wonder how many of the top twenty or so significant characters of the show will be killed by season end. None yet this season after two slow episodes. I suspect nearly all will be dead by season end. It will make for some sad viewing. Am I too pessimistic?
04-22-2019 , 12:21 AM
I hope so. Tired of the plot armor given to people like Jon when the fact that anything could happen to anyone is what the show was built on. people used to get punished for their actions

this episode sucked. half of it felt lifted straight from the two towers and the rest was just bull****ting each other. no one seemed to care about discussing how to actually kill the white walkers or the ice dragon

then like last week at the very end you finally get some progress about Jon's identity which is the most interesting development happening but his timing is as bad as possible
