Sorry to continue the derail, but the one advantage the FOTR had was that Sauron did not know that their plan was to destroy the Ring. Sauron understand the hearts of men (and elves, and dwarfs) and assumed that anyone wielding the Ring would seek to use its power and would be incapable of destroying it.
If they flew eagles to Mt. Doom he would have probably figured out what they were doing. And yes, the Nazgul would have given them quite a battle.
Cotton Hill expounded on the point; currently the overpowered dragons create a plot hole as they're an easy solution to nearly any military problem. So Dany's side doesn't want to use them against Kings Landing becausd loads of innocent people woild die - fair enough. But there's no such issue with sending the dragons to burn the troublesome Euron Greyjoy's fleet.
On another note, imho the existence of the White Walkers is a mistake. They're becoming exactly what I feared - the standard fantasy trope of the enemy so powerful that they force everyone else to unite. Dany's relationship with Jon Snow would be quite different if there were no White Walkers. The Wildlings and Night Watch would still be at each other's throats. Even Cersei might cooperate if this crazy plan to capture a walker works. The White Walkers are essentially a giant MacGuffin that distract from what's made GoT special.
Hopefully the series finale isn't the destruction of the white walkers. I'm hoping they get destroyed as soon as possible because the aftermath would be far more interesting than the actual battle.
Quick one for those reading the spoiler thread - does it just go through E6 or does it include the finale? (I just watched E6 so would like to read feedback on that only).

I've only read the last page of that thread (100/page), but as of rn it only discusses episode 6
oh ya, I saw this to and thought it was pretty funny. The only problem is I cant get it out of me dam head and now! And, my dam bead sheets smell like Jon Snow...... so I figure least I can do Is torture you all too....
I really enjoy the show, seems like haters are always mad but I will agree that things are much more abbreviated than in seasons past, think how long Jamie Lannister was locked up in pow camp, in transit back to kings landing vs how much has transpired in six episodes this season. However it's dope AF to me, every episode like amazing half movie with so much backstory being paid off little by little.
was so predictable that the dragon would come to save them the minute you saw the island wasn't it? - the killing of the dragon saved this episode - would have been sickening to see everyone get away at the last minute, then the converted dragon was a great touch.
Did it tilt anyone else that there were extra good guys in the zombie battle when every other sjot just showed the named characters walking and talking? Every time an extra got killed I was like, wait, who just died? ****ing terrible. And the Jon Snow getting dragged under water and then getting bailed out by Benjen thing was even worse.
