He was possibly just confused about book content and show content. Of course, that's a big reason why bookreaders shouldn't be posting in the moderated thread.
I'm pretty sure I know the post you are talking about. I was like... how are you so confidently posting that thing that definitely did not happen.

Like, people complain about the moderated thread but that type of stuff used to ALWAYS ALWAYS happen back in the earlier seasons where, in hindsight clearly spoiled poster would post as if they knew nothing. I'm glad we haven't had much of that this season, even if the thread isn't so active.

I enjoy it this way.

blows my mind that so many people who've read the books are so determined to post in a thread for people who haven't read the books

Should be fine to post imo. If somehow there's info in book 3 that is clearly a book spoiler like "Jon Snow is the lovechild of Hodor and Melisandre" and you post it, you should get banned like any book reader.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

I just want to thank the mods (and for taking recent heat about if approved posts are the way to go). I think approved posts was/is absolutely the way to go. Once it is confirmed the show is far enough ahead of the books (it might be now), then I think we can safely switch back to normal posting.

very unlikely, books have a ton of prophecies/dreams that can be considered spoilers of things that havent happened yet probably will

Given that the title says "NO BOOKREADERS" in caps, I have no idea what you are complaining about. It's not a complicated rule and just because you decided it didn't apply, doesn't mean it didn't.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

the rules were changed even if the title wasnt

there were approved bookreaders way back then, and then it became approved posts.

Ive read every post of the thread I'm aware of whats going on and the unchanged title

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

cause random mods didnt do their job properly and let a TV WATCHER spoil stuff and then decided to check who was a bookreader and randomly ban them indiscrimently.

Just incompetence really, but its not like a job so I dont blame them too much.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

I am not a book reader but I have just wiki'ed this thing and aren't we like caught up? There is nothing else to spoil as far as I can see on quick glance. No more books. The fat man hasn't written anymore and is stuck. Won't even be published anytime soon. Is season 6 going to be various subplot stuff that is already there or stuff from the new unpublished books?

Maybe they said screw the fat guy, he's obviously lazy, greedy, and slow, we'll just write our own scripts with what we've got.

It has been said that the fat guy knows how everything ends and has shared those secrets with the show runners.

Its one thing to know where the plotlines lead, it is another to put it into prose and produce quality books.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

I mean, honestly, there cannot be that many seasons left. 2? 3?

We haven't been introduced to any major characters for awhile, and every season more and more of the ones we have die. We aren't going to wake up to season 6 and find the character that is going to lead the series to the final.

I guess it depends how long it takes Dany to get to Westeros.

Just a random thought.

Wouldn't it be the biggest troll in the history of TV if Dany never makes it anywhere and dies some meaningless death?

actually grrm has been canceling shows and stuff just so he could focus on writing, the winds of winter is "supposed" to come out in early 2016, ie before next season

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

Does there need to be an approved posts thread now that everything has caught up?

The publishers will be desperate to get that 6th book out before TV series 6 airs.

George Martin is a pretty big fail if he doesn't finish his life's work before death. It's not good to be such a fat bastard in your late 60's.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

Thanks mods for banning the book posters who for some unknown reason still don't understand what "no book posters" means after years and years. A big **** you to the book guys who still post in our thread.

Going forward, my understanding is that post approval isn't really necessary. The no book posters rule is just as important as ever though, of course. Keep this subforum, remove post approval, have it be book poster free. Win win win.

If approved posts was turned off, would we want to turn them back on when there are leaked episodes like there were this year?

At this point, being concerned about book readers spoiling anything is like being concerned that someone might spoil LOST for you because they watched The Wire.

Re: Is approved posts the way to go?

Non-bookreaders should be aware of these two things.

1. George R. R. Martin has recently said the sixth book, Winds of Winter, will be published before the sixth season of Game of Thrones starts.

2. Based on casting news, there are book 4/5 storylines which were absent in recent seasons but which will be started in season 6.

His track record on when books will be finished is abysmal.

I'd argue spoiling them is insignificant, and I don't expect them to be particularly faithful adaptations anyway.

The thread was made post-approved to prevent one crazy poster from spoiling major things, like Jon dying. At this point the spoilers are far harder to contain, since it involves speculation about what might come. Are the people suggesting Jon will be revived spoiled? Who knows. Heck even if we get the next book and it does happen mods can't just prevent all speculation about it in the show thread. Which means post-approval can do absolutely nothing to stop it, and thus post-approval is pointless at this point.

Well yeah obviously lol. I wasn't getting my posts approved for a while and I pm'd a few mods to get it sorted out (nbd obv). It's more like I'm reading about the red wedding etc. It's a little different but I don't have some extra info that viewers don't have. Even if I did I wouldn't spoil as I've been spoiled on tons of **** and just not posted lol.

Quoting this here, since I can't post in the other thread.

I have no idea why it hasn't been done. There are no more major spoilers left. Or at least ones that haven't been cut. I'm all for continuing to ban book readers, mostly because too many idiots would tard up the thread listing where the show has diverged (could be considered spoilers, ldo), but the damage a crazy person could do posting spoilers ITT is quite limited.

edit: apologies to the mod, I fail at copy/paste and tried to respond in the other thread...
