I have been staking a poker player for around 5 years. Currently he is $45k in make-up. He went out to Vegas this weekend to play the poker bowl @ the venetian & the 100k 1-day event on Saturday if he failed to make day 2 of poker bowl. He didn't respond to any texts the whole weekend. This morning he texted me and said he got drunk blacked out Thursday night and lost the $6k bankroll i sent him out to vegas with to play the tournaments, and never ended up playing the tournaments.

After this incident, I no longer trust the stake horse. But I also don't want to forfeit the 45k in make-up. I feel like he violated the terms of our agreement when he gambled my money away, and that maybe he should be on the hook for the $45k?

Any advice on how to tackle this situation would be very much appreciated...

Ugly situation. Advice: Don't back live players anymore because the money could go anywhere imo.

He lied to you, stole your money etc and should be required to repay the full $45k as well as the money he stole/lost.

The issue? Getting him to do that. I'd approach him with payment plans because of how this whole thing went down.

Good luck LakeMonster!

he is on the hook for 6k. obv his make up figure doesn’t have anything to do with this at this point. however id make it clear now that if he doesn’t repay the 6k asap and stops doing bs like that you would be forced to drop him and he would potentially be on the hook for his mu.

The industry standard of this forum is that if horse violate any terms in the contract (ie didn't watch enough videos) he is on the hook for everything and more (bankroll, makeup or even potential profit).

which is ridiculous and far from an overall industry std.

Make him pay back the $6k and say you can re-visit staking once you are paid back in full for his gambling degen mistake in which he stole money from you.

Once the re-visit comes I recommend no longer staking him since he is clearly not trustworthy or worth the risk - find someone more reliable or give way less of a leash for future horses and count that $45k as a learning cost.

And far from a standard here, as it was an obvious exaggeration, and really not all that helpful to this thread.

pocarr just does that so they can freeroll players who build up makeup. if they are winning then who cares, but if they lose and build up makeup then they can start demanding minimum games and watching videos and kick them and demand payment of makeup with threat of being black listed if they don't comply.
