Re: Privacy - what should people be allowed to post about alleged scammers?

5) It's not easy to enforce the contracts in court for small sums across national borders. Small sums being anything under $100k - and even $100k is probably too small. There's a few reasons for this a) the legal fees involved b) not all countries having similar court systems / laws c) who has jurisdictional authority d) the players might not have the money anymore.
Anybody trying to enforce such an agreement in the UK courts would probably have to prove they themselves are fully compliant with the UK anti money laundering rules, which could open a can of worms for the staking groups.

Is it me or is it clear that 2+2 is avoiding answering this officially and hoping that the fuss with it will just die down?

Its been over a month, some sort of official answer is needed from 2+2.

Right, that's why I've been in here answering questions as they come up. And your suggestion makes sense, as 2+2 has a history of doing that sort of thing. Oh, wait, no we don't.

Yes, it's been a while. As I said, I wanted to make sure we had a chance to have everyone heard. And the situation has been this way for quite some time, so I really didn't think a couple more weeks either way would hurt things. In the meantime, the number of people asking to have their information removed over that month has been...none. Which is pretty normal - we rarely hear from anyone asking to have information removed. We just have a few people who seem really, really concerned about other people's info.

Nothing wrong with that, mind you. I get that some people are strong privacy advocates. But it does get a little annoying when all we're hearing from is a couple of people who were filling this thread with some terrible posts, and someone who has created a new account dedicated to this one issue.

Anyway, I posted a last request for feedback in the mod forum a few days ago before going ahead with anything, and it was only when I came in here to implement our decision that I saw the last couple posts ITT.

OK, now that I'm done venting, here's what I posted in the negative feedback thread:

Info to include in your post

1) 2+2 screen name.

2) Poker site name(s). Please.

3) AOL IM, emails, city, etc. Phone numbers, street addresses, photos/scans of ID and similar info is not permitted. Contact a mod about special circumstances.

4) A reasonably brief summary of the problem. No walls of text please, link to the thread if you like.
I did add one bit today: "photos/scans of ID", although I think it would be obvious that was also in the spirit of the rules as they were written - it just wasn't something people were posting at that time.

So, no significant change to the rules - just a clarification, and a reminder of what was already there.

If anyone wishes to discuss further:

I've gone back through the last few pages and done some clean-up, which takes things back to the beginning of this year. I don't plan on going further back than that at this time; if people have their personal info from earlier that they would like removed, they should report the post(s) in question - red triangle to the left of every post.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Even though I've been a bit snarky from time to time (including in this post), I really have appreciated your feedback, and it was all read and considered.
