The guy from the poker room was somewhat suspicious of my intentions, but I don't think he was alarmed. He asked me why I needed it the entrant list and I told him it was because I'm a backer and needed verification of my guys being in the tournament for tax reasons. He seemed to stop questioning it when I mentioned the WSOP and WPT release the info.

Nobody at the corporate place had any idea who to send me to. I think the VM I left a msg on was Rob Mcintire, director of something or other. But he never called back.

I think if a ton of people start phoning asking for info on 1 guy, people are likely to be like "wtf" and just clam up and stick 100% to the sage policy of not saying anything. It sounds like you got decently far though, maybe that Rob guy will call tomorrow.

Yeah, I didn't even mention a name. I figured that would make me seem kind of shady. It's perfectly normal for people to release entrant lists, and I'm pretty sure they used to have some on their website(not for 2011).

Just my opinion, but I don't think it looks like him at all. If he has gained 25lbs, maybe, but it just doesn't look like him to me. That guy seems to have a wider face and is more jowly.

Long time lurker but just had to chime in on this thread. Im willing to bet any amount that the person in that picture IS NOT Nick Rainey. I will escrow with any reputable person here obviously. The guy in the picture is a local player from Edmonton that I have played with dozens of times. Hes a nice guy and solid player and I am sure he wouldnt appreciate having his picture associated with that POS MI_Turtle... Mods should seriously take that photo down.

No, what I meant was that I knew Nick didn't have a phone at all as of a few months ago. I was under the impression that he bought a cheap pre paid phone in order to validate his Stars account, but didn't want to be totally 100% definitive on a topic that I'm not 100% totally sure about. Since I made that post, I have verified he doesn't have a smart phone via Nick and someone who knows Nick in Canada.

Unlike you, I'm very careful about things I say. If I'm not sure about something, I make sure people know that I'm not sure of it. I don't want to mislead anyone, nor do I want to embarrass myself like you have in this thread.

Are you going to ignore the other poster who says he played with the guy in your picture all of Day 2 and he definitely wasn't punting the tournament? I know you can't be bothered to read complicated things like evidence and stuff, but at a certain point you must realize how silly you look.

You can't use the poster who thought the player in the picture was Nick, and still hang onto your story. The whole purpose of your original post was that he was playing ridiculously and obviously oversold himself. If the guy in the picture is Nick, he ****ing made Day 2 and played totally normal. So who gives a **** if it's Nick or not?

If Nick wasn't playing recklessly and your anonymous friend didn't think he oversold himself, your story is essentially that your anonymous friend had a smart looking asian kid point out Nick Rainey in a tournament. Cool story bro.

I never meant to imply that there wasn't anyway in the world for Nick to play the tournament. I was simply stating that the scenario you outlined isn't possible.

He could have borrowed the money, or taken out a loan at the bank, or robbed someone, or who knows what else. There are millions of really unlikely scenarios we could debate ad nauseum, but that would ruin this thread even more than it already has been.
