Stupid angle here but anyone think of putting a file together about his profits and getting 'The Man' on his back for taxes? Did he play out of the US?? I'm sure he would have made claims to his profitablility. I'm a Euro so I'm not even sure how it works. I trust he is all paid up on the tax front giving his rep.

I'm just wondering if anyone else thought of this... If nick rainey had intended to fully rip off the investors wouldn't you think he might have tried to get more than 10k? Even with his bad rep I bet he could have found maybe another 10k worth of investors on a WSOP package or something.

How do we know he didn't? The buyin was 10K - but he could've sold more.

i remember back when the US had their own WCOOP thingy last year some time, i bought a piece of him in it (he had sold action on twitter)

i was railing him for a few hours and he made the most horrific play to bust and it was so obvious he had done it on purpose, made me think he had prob sold the tourny buyin action 2 or 3 times over

I've been told Nick has paid everyone back from the WSOP. The names he gave me were Galen(posted above), Charder, JordanKickz, and Cort Mibley. There may have been more, just the ones he mentioned.

It's not that hard to find out how many people there are. To me it just looks like now that he paid back the better known guys (dont recognise cort mibley though (is that a screenname or an actual name?)) with dividends. It would be ridiculous if there are still people waiting for money while others received a bonus.

And i hope the site stays live because even if he paid everybody back he is still a thief and a scammer.

He says there were 4 investors, all paid back now with interest.

Obviously it's theoretically possible for there to be more, but it would be pretty stupid of him to try and say there weren't.

I'm not involved nor drawing any conclusions from previous issues he's had with the 2p2 community. I just wanted to point out that it appears he has made good on the WSOP situation.

Fair enough, but in the thread i linked there are already 6 names with paid behind it in the OP. It therefore seems unlikely to me that there are only 4 investors. Looks to me he has paid back the biggest investor and three well known guys.

And he has lied before where it made no sense to do so. So i cant really value that.

Having been affected by Nick Rainey during the 16.000 game prop bet back in '09, and having seen him involved in many scams and shady dealings after that, I would say there is no doubt Nick is a scumbag.

He paid back the money after being pressed and ridiculed online. Would he have paid back if people had just waited with their arms crossed? Most likely not. I hope his reputation hasn't been restored at least one bit in the poker scene after paying back the people he owed money to. Someone who repeatedly uses deception to get his hands on other people's money deserves no sympathy from any of us.

Thumbs up for admo and everyone else who helped the stakers get their money back.

Why would you say such a thing....He's a really nice guy, lets people buy parts of a winning player and so on.......who could have any ill thoughts against such a swell guy

that's likely a misleading statement.

zero evidence of mods allowing to do so with knowledge. no evidence at all the marketplace mods were aware it was him/of his background. sure that's what he said, but he's shown no proof of that. what he has shown is an ability to lie and manipulate people.

much more likely scenario is he created a new/had another account- possibly a mod knew or possibly not- but then he just gets marketplace approval because no red flag comes up when that account applies. Marketplace approval is basically automatic for most accounts.

There's almost zero chance his marketplace application said "hey it's Nick Rainey here under a new account I know there have been issues in the past but that's all sorted please give me approval". That's the story he tries to sell in his marketplace thread though. You know... the one where he takes everyone's money, degens it off, stops communicating with people, lies about having sent checks already, skips town, and starts to pay people back way down the road, always prematurely declaring he's taken care of all of it.

Something like that.
