Seriously, Brandi Hawbaker's suicide came well over a year after she'd stopped posting on 2+2. During that time, she'd broken up with said boyfriend numerous times, cleaned out his apartment and ended up alone, broke and miserable.

The woman was an ex-sex worker with serious mental health problems who appeared to spend her whole life exploiting and being exploited by others. The idea that 2+2 somehow was responsible for her death is just pure fantasy on your part.
It was obvious almost from day 1 that Brandi had serious mental health issues.

I would say it's equally as obvious Rainey has similar issues to address.

What's the point of this post?

It's too late for Brandi.

It's not going to prompt Nick to get help.

And everyone on 2+2 already knows his problems.

And anyone not on 2+2 isn't going to see it.

Well played, and really a nice site!

Glimmertwin is a gossipy old man from Gap Tooth, Arkansas that pretends to be an Englishman. His real accent would get him a part as an extra on the movie Deliverence, as would his appearance and attire. I exchanged letters with Brandi, letters I still have. She wrote clearly and explained things. She didn't take part in ripping off the boy who was not her boyfriend. She didn't benefit from it, plan it, or have anything to do with it. She knew who did it and was afraid of them. She realized she faced criminal charges in Las Vegas and could not return there. She was getting advice from an attorney in L.A. She said I made her laugh. She needed a friend. I'm proud to have been that friend. I felt bad about her death. I'd feel bad about anyone's suicide, such a senseless thing. It is the forty-eight hour illness. If someone waits, they will live on. Life itself is wonderful. Any two-bit ******* can be a hater.

I guess it's pretty easy to scam from other poker players, all they do is start a thread on 2+2 and complain nothing more.

I'd rather have my dick caught in a meat grinder than to try to rip off Admo. He makes Dog the Bounty Hunter look like a Cub Scout.

Binion's Horseshoe was well-known for being very harsh with theives, scammers, and cheats. It was called back-rooming. The cheats knew to rob somebody else. I saw a guy steal a woman's purse and run with two of those huge Texas security guards right behind him. He ran into the Mint, part of Binion's now. They caught him and took him back and down the stairs. That was the only thing Binion's got in trouble for, beating up folks.

The Camel-I was not aware of Nick Rainey's reputation until this thread. The purpose it serves is clear. Scammers and thieves in this community are incredibly difficult to hold accountable. They will normally get away with their money and the only punishment will be that they are shunned from the community. This at least allows as many people as possible to be aware that such a person is a scumbag thief and untrustworthy. I just can't believe you are basically being an apologist for a thief. Do you read newspaper articles about criminals who are in court and shake your head that they are using their real name as that 'serves no purpose'? I cannot whatsoever understand your point of view and the Brandi Hawbaker comparison is just sosososo horrifically misguided i don't know where to begin.

This obviously suprises no one.

It was absolutely amazing that somehow he kept himself afloat for so long on weird semi-scams and general sketchyness.

Are you talking about Brandon when you say the boy who was not her boyfriend?

I mean, obviously this. It's been said time and time again that since we are unregulated we need to police ourselves and hold people accountable. Since we have no (legal) ways of making scammers pay back the $ this is the next best thing. I don't really know what Camel's suggesting, letting every scammer off without drawing negative attention to their name just so we can avoid 'internet bullying'?

Well we do have legal ways of making scammers pay back. In this case, since Rainey was soliciting investments to a completely legal activity, there is a lot of accountability.

However, it is probably +ev to the community and to ourselves to ruin the reputation of those who scam from it, and not just seek out individual repayment.

I would contend it is much more honorable and noble an activity to use this type of accountability (to the community) than going for a private settlement.

Huh, really? Fair enough, you probably know more about this than me I just can't fathom anyone could take legal action based off a 2p2 marketplace thread with no legal contracts drawn up (I assume) etc etc. Also I've never heard of a poker/2p2 scammer being successfully taken to court so I guess I just assumed it wasn't possible in 99% of cases.

Also +1 to pokerscammers.com or whatever, would be sick to have a site that listed all of the scumbags.

I mean it is a pretty clear track of evidence from him listing his (legal) name and asking for money, giving a way to transfer it, and then leaving to another country with the money.

It may not be the most clean lawsuit in all history, and it doesn't have a perponderence of evidence, at least on the cover of it, but it is a starting point.

pokerscammers.com sounds like win.

I do web design on the side, and my next client doesnt need the project started for 20-25 days.

I am on it. This sounds like exactly the type of project I have been looking for.

You don't have to write everything down and sign it in order to have a contract. If a man offers to wash your car for $10 and you agree then you have a contract. If you give him the $10 but he doesn't wash it then you can seek to enforce the (verbal) contract. Your chances of success will depend on how much evidence you have, such as witnesses. In the case we are talking about the evidence would be things like the staking thread, skype logs, emails, payment trails etc

I've read the original market place thread, the tweets, and the prior thread where Admo and Rainey went at it over the failed prop bet. Since Admo & Nick have history I'm wondering about a few things.

-Was Admo an investor?
-Does he know who all the investors are?
-Were any investors paid back?
-If they were was anyone paid back interest?

Thanks

Of course, I'm not saying let him off.

I'm saying this thread and Admo's pathetic website is a huge overreaction to what Rainey has done.

The amount he has stolen is a fraction of the amount FTP has stolen from the poker community.

Get real and divert your anger to places where it is deserved.

You are basically saying let him off though. Thief steals money, enough money to get you put behind bars for a long time, the same thief has done shady things multiple times in the past, obviously having, *gasp* a whole THREAD about it, ridiculous overreaction.

Get real and divert your posts to places where they are deserved.

Yeah I don't really see how a thread and website is an over-reaction? I mean what do you suggest people actually do, apart from talk amongst themselves about how much of a douche he is?

It's pretty clear that not everyone on 2p2 is familiar with Rainey, and also in the past he's run training camps etc (right?) so surely it helps to have readily available info about his past for anyone willing to google his name before they pay him a buttload of $ for coaching...
