He PM'd me using 'kunatella' asking for a stake but supplied stats with PStars account 'granazg'.

Hi everyone.

I was recently pointed out to this thread in the portuguese poker forums because my screenname was associated with HALENGOIL.

HALENGOIL had been scamming portuguese poker players for a long time and I was one of the people who outted him in the portuguese forums a few months back (that's probably one of the reasons why he has been so active here on 2p2 latelly).

You haven't really explained how my screenname got involved in this mess but I assume he posed himself as me ("Santiz" on ftp) to gain some credibility or simply as an act of revenge...

Anyway, I have never requested any stake, and I don't intent to in the foreseeable future. If someone other than the 2p2 account I am using atm claims to be "santiz" on FTP, then THAT PERSON IS SCAMMING YOU AND YOU SHOULD NOT TRANSFER HIM ANY MONEY.

I would appreciate if some Mod would clear my screenname from that list and am obviously willing to do what it takes in order to prove my identity/legitimacy.

I edited the updated list (quoted above) with a note and link beside "Santiz".
Deleting Santiz from that list wouldn't remove it from Google cache.

No, that's fine. He was using Kunatella as his Stars account last month http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...stcount=104310 but Granzag has much much better stats if you're applying for stakes. Clearly just trying to fool any staker who doesn't pay much attention.

Was weary at first because he made up a story about semesa1 being a good reference for him and that someone coached him under the name for 15 dollar a session. When i contacted semesa he didn't know the guy.

What Dan was asking was, given that his 2+2 account was banned in August and you were contacted today, how did he contact you, what's his Aim or MSN name, or the name of his 2nd 2+2 account he used to reach you.

Started backing him for 2 dollar 180 man SnG's and after a week he was down 300. Obv. Make up was included in the deal. He then says that he'd done with poker and wants to quit. I say fine since a player who quits poker entirely has that right.
1 day later he's in the M.P selling packages for SnG's. I call him out on this and says it was a bad thing to do but obv. does not care and thinks it's ok to freeroll backers. I gave him the option of paying me back half the Make up which he declined.

Doesn't look like you blackened his name, absolutely no need to apologise to him. It looks like you gave him $75 for a stake, he stole it, then noticing that it would kill any future staking possibility here gave you the money back to try and make himself seem like he's not a thief. Although if MAddicted wants to provide an alternate reason for what happened then he should post it here.

Was Given $250 Stake at beginning of July 2011, Grinded it up (with coaching) to over $400. Not only did he not ship % of profit, he kept the whole Bankroll and dissappeared. He e-mailed weeks later saying he'd ship in a few days & and we haven't heard from him since.

He has recently started grinding again so he might be getting coaching and/or staking, so beware. He'll Take the money & run.

There were some diagreements but, as I always told Bob, his money was safe. He has it now!

He can also say that was not true. I didn't have not even a session of coaching. The deal was with coaching but they never had time.

He made up some story about he didn't pay us back because he didn't get the amount of coaching he expected.

Below are all the known details but there are very likely to be more names, emails and accounts that aren’t yet tied to JLM.

The scam:
JLM will usually try to solicit stakes through 2p2. He will contact via PM and give a bogus AIM or MSN address along with some poker SN’s that don’t show much tracking data.
He will give you a graph showing a good winrate at HU PLO100-400. This graph will either be faked or stolen or it will be a purge of hands he’s played with the losing hands removed. The graph will rarely be more than 10k hands long even though he has been playing for 4 years. He will account for this by saying this is all the hands he has on ‘this computer’.
He will say he needs the stake usually due to having to cash out large sums to pay for rent, house, medical bills (lol its free in UK) or university fees.
If he secures a stake he will likely play according to the terms for a short time before either dumping to another one of his accounts or just playing beyond the terms of the stake and then will cease to respond. He will often keep the rouse going as long as possible by updating the staker with graphs which are likely fake or selectively purged.
He will compulsively lie about anything and everything, even when there is no utility to the lie. He has a massive ego and will brag constantly when he is on a heater and complain profusely when he is losing.
When the scam becomes obvious to the backer he will occasionally contact, apologize, promise payment etc. This has never come to fruition and is usually just a way to prolong him from being outed.

James Farmer (Josh Le Marchant) also applied to us for a stake recently, using the same details listed above. What's worrying is that he has James Farmers passport picture, so he either has someone else in on the scam with him or he has managed to steal and scan a copy of what is likely his friends passport.

I'm going to report this the police here and see if this guy can get done for identity theft at the very least. If anyone can pass on anything to me which they think will be helpful in this then please feel free to PM me.

Yeah, he's done this before. He applied for a stake under a friends name previously (can't remember the thread) but was under the name of Peter Le Hegarat. am unsure if the friend was in on it or not. I did a quick facebook check on the james farmer name and there are definite similarities between Josh applying through this friend and the Peter Le Hegarat one.

RW it's probably worth updating the Josh stuff with this next bit.

It appears that both of the above friends went to Cardiff university (where i know josh moved to for some time). And both seem to share some of the same mutual friends that i know from Cardiff medical school. I think it is probably worth backers doing a fb check on any uk applicants to see if there are any links to cardiff uni under their info or any other Cardiff links at all.

It is also about time that joshualemarchentisascammer.com was made. I'll chuck in the first $50 towards it.
