Luis was not updating his rail after each playing session. We gave him multiple warning as we need him to do this for accounting and auditing purposes. This also caused Luis to play off-stake games because he did not know what his makeup was. This happened again and felt we cannot back someone not capable of doing this simple task.

Our guys update their rails with financial information after every playing day. This helps with auditing, making sure both sides have the same makeup number, affects what games can be played during series' with makeup etc.

Phillip went 3 months of playing (584 games) while receiving 5 top-ups and updated his rail once. In the past 2 months, he played 35 sessions (409 games) and did not update his rail a single time.

Didn't hit our volume requirements numerous months in a row. He then after this, asked for 3 months off to figure out if poker was for him or not. We said yes but if he decided poker was not for him, we needed a repayment plan for SBR + makeup, to which he enthusiastically agreed and thanked us for our flexibility.

Gideon returned and said poker was not for him, set up a $50/mo repayment plan and we moved forward.

After repaying $50 (missed 4 of 5 payments) in the past 5 months, we said things needed to change and this was completely unacceptable and taking advantage of our flexibility.

Gideon has now said he cannot repay and feels he "owes us $0 as we chose to part ways with him"....

We staked Jeroen for a long time and didn't have any problems with him as was a very good horse. The last 2 months we went on his first downswing, he was complaining a lot about even though his MTT game selection was bad. His volume declined a lot and when asked about it he said he was suffering from depression. 1 week later he admitted to withdrawing the $500 for his medical bills even though this can't proved he did do this without permission. if you he pays back the money withdrawn i'll update this post.
Just adding to the above post that Jeroen has $3.3k makeup on top of the $500 owed.

We received an application from Edmund Yeung in September 2016. Usually unless somebody has good online results we aren’t interested in staking them. Edmund wrote a good application and was friends with a lot of reputable high stakes guys like Charlie Carrell, Matas Cimbolas and had some success in live tournaments like winning the UKPC recently for $300,000.

The staking agreement started great, after 1 week he has won the big 22 and sent back our share of the profits immediately.

WPT Nottingham was up next, we allowed him to play in a bunch of events there, I met him myself there and spent some time with him, he came across as a super nice guy and I really had nothing bad to say about him.

Again, couple of weeks later and he had another good chop, almost $19,000.

As is usual with our horses, Edmund received private coaching from 2 of the best players in the world, European and Romeopro, both parties had filled their duties as stated in the contract.

In November, Edmund started playing a lot of live poker and we received this message:

highblaze-11/24/2016

Hi guys, just want to let you guys know that from the 19th of November to the 5th of January, I will be going home to visit my family for Xmas and New Years. I am also 60% sure I will be going to Prague, which means I won't be playing online for a good few weeks. I will make up the volume when I get back to the UK. Once I confirm that I will be going to Prague by this weekend, I will put up a schedule on here so you guys have the option to have whatever you want on stake.

We replied:

Patricio-11/24/2016

Volume is really important. Especially at the start when you're aiming to improve a lot. Going to Prague seems like very bad decision. Especially as you're taking additional time off around it and have been playing a lot of live before too
It depends what your goals are of clirse
If it's to see the world and have a shot at glory it's Prague
If you want to improve its skipping

He replied:

highblaze-11/28/2016

Hey, I thought about what <@127130457149145088> said and I decided to skip Prague and put in extra volume online before going away on holiday. Feel like I've improved a lot since joining the stable and I don't wanna halt my progress by not putting in sufficient volume over the next 2 months. Gl to you guys in Prague. and hopefully see you at the pokerstars championship in London in January.

In early December (4/12/16) our stats guy was searching our players and realised Edmund was randomly hidden from search, something which was weird to us.

The next day we received a message from Highblaze asking for a loan:

highblaze - Well basically, 2 years ago, my dad passed away and I since had to pay for my sister's and my university education in the U.K. through my poker income. However, as I graduated this year, I will need a visa to stay in the U.K. from next year onwards. I recently applied for an investors visa but that means I would have to have £210k in my bank account at all times till the visa is procured. I have the sufficient amount right now but I have to pay for my sisters last semester in uni in the next 2 months and I currently am able to do so but it would mean I would not have the money for my own living expenses. Initially, I thought the process would have been a lot quicker but I just found out that the visa process takes awhile as I would have to hire a business manager etc to discuss investment opportunities before they can decide whether to give me my visa. Hence, I am stuck in a dilemma right now, I feel that I can take a month or 2 off from grinding online to grind cash live to make the money that I need urgently. Alternatively, I was wondering if I could get a loan that goes into make up and I would put in as much volume as possible to to clear it or give me sometime till I procure my visa and I will deposit the money back into the stake personally. I really don't want to stop playing online as I feel that I have been improving quickly since joining BitB. I really hate to talk about this, but I only did so because I really had to.

Whilst this seemed kind of strange to us that the guy who had made a bunch of money with us and had won $300,000 in a big live tournament needed money for “life expenses” whilst paying for family to go to international universities, we were prepared to consider it and think about helping him out as we saw a bunch of potential in him and after meeting him in real life had the impression he was a really good guy.

We asked for an audit from his Stars account to make sure our money hand’t been misused, he hadn’t been playing off stake games etc, we had some concerns because of his search feature randomly turning itself off.

We had a call with him on 5/12/16 and spoke about the loan, how much he would need, how much poker he expected to play etc. We asked him for the audit and he said sure. On the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th I asked repeatedly for the audit but he didn’t reply or sent half full ones.

<@233672474456227843> don't play anymore games on any sites until this is cleared up plz, it's very important you do this asap, thanks

We received a picture of him in hospital saying don’t worry guys its ok i’ll do it when I’m out.

We asked another few times for an audit and then finally received it alongside a confession:

Hi there,

The password is bitb. Before this audit check begins, I would like to say that I have been guilty of playing games off stake and been guilty of playing casino games and sports betting. I know this is extremely unacceptable and it's not how you guys run the company. Every time I made money doing so, I withdrew the money and every time I lost, I replaced the money. I always intend and do end up replacing the money I lose, albeit not immediately, which is why I always made sure the account balance sheet reflected what is meant to be on there. I have never had the intention of scamming BitB and I do not want you guys to think that I am trying to do so. I understand this reflects very badly on me. I ensure you that this is not the person I am, and you can ask anyone in the poker community that knows me. There will be no repeats of such occurrences in the future if you guys will continue to let me play for you. I feel that I have improved a lot in the short time of being in BitB and I feel that we can have a successful partnership going forward. I am willing to be subjected to more regular audit checks to ensure that I am not breaching the contract in any way if you guys would give me a chance to start over. I sincerely apologise and I know I ****ed up in a big way.

Best Regards,

highblaze

In the audit file we saw the most degenerate tendencies you could imagine, martingaling, sports betting, blackjack, everything. Playing zoom cash games, spinning it up and then playing high stakes hypers, going back to the casino, betting on sports again etc. I am not an expert on these audits, but there was over 8000 bets (!!!)

My genuine feeling after seeing this was sadness not anger. i know he is a good guy but obviously has huge problems.

I unfortunately had to send him this message:

Patricio-12/12/2016

Hi mate, its with very big regret that were going to have to end this staking deal and ask you to return the float asap. You very clearly breached our staking rules and the degenerate tendancies that we saw from the audit you send us was very scary for us and something we're really not used to. I am the only guy who has met you here in person, so I'm a little biased, but I know you seem like a good guy and I'd strongly suggest you go to gamblers anonymous or some kind of program to ensure that you are on the right track and things dont go too much downhill. If we see something like this from you, then in the future we're happy to reconsider this position and offer you a position in bitbstaking. Felix will take over from now on how much/where to send the money <@126343187001376768> , again, big shame from our side, but im sure you can appreciate and understand why we had to do this.

He didn’t reply for a while, we tried to contact him in lots of ways, Facebook, Skype, discord etc. I then sent this message to him:

Patricio-Last Wednesday at 12:46 AM

hi, unfortunately this looks very bad, we have an obligation as a stable that if something like this happens we must make it public to ensure other stables dont get financially damaged, due to your degenerate actions recently and now your failure to respond, unless there is communication between yourself and felix/ray, we will have to make this public. We will just say the facts and not over hype the situation, but will post this time tomorrow on 2p2 and blonde poker. If after 3 days we still don't receive any communication we will have to reach out to friends/family not just because of the funds owed, but for your own protection (needing 12k loan to help pay sisters university but betting big on roulette/blackjack and sports) we would rather than this wasnt what had to happen but for ourself and yourself, its very likely the best way moving forward. Get in touch.

The conversation continued a little bit:

Patricio-Last Friday at 1:29 AM

hey, we can also accpet bank transfer. seems like youre playing pretty decent volume, maybe better to get this fixed and then start grinding and spending time on that. we will leave it until tuesday morning, but then will have to post unfortunately.
December 19, 2016
Since then he’s been grinding full time on stars, over 500 games this month (thats a lot!) full high stakes Sunday schedule including a deep run in the Sunday Million cashing for $1k+ and playing bunch of $150+ turbos, $215 bounty builders etc, and this is only on PokerStars.

We have since found out he has sold action to people for EPT Prague and obviously didn’t turn up. It’s our assumption that he is using this money to “spin up” all the money he owes in debts, and was using our money initially to try and spin up and pay debts back to people. We don’t need Edmund to send us all of the money tomorrow, we would like a repayment plan, good communication and whilst it won’t affect us either way, we massively recommend his friends and family to help him get help for this addiction that he very clearly has.

We've written to him numerous times over the last week and 3 times in the last 24 hours, despite being online we have received nothing back.

Edmund wrote to us today saying he never planned to go to prague and will try to fix the money and asked to take the page down.

Whilst I was considering it, a friend wrote to me on fb sharing Edmund sold to him to Prague a few days ago and then sent a picture of him in hospital (same one he had sent on October 21st)

Very very desperate from him and it wouldnt surprise me if he's done this with dozens of people.

We spoke to Edmund tonight, tried to offer support and advice, he believes he doesn't have a gambling problem and was just a blip.

The fact that different people from different communities were asked for money means that unfortunately we have to post things like this publicly otherwise friends and peers can get ****ed over where we could potentially have helped.

As I said in my initial message to Ed that I posted in the OP, if he gets help etc we don't even need all the money back straight away as long as there is some kind of payment plan and he gets help for gambling.

Ofc morally feel bad about potentially ruining somebodies career but feel like its our duty to post in this kind of spot :/

Definitely the right thing to do here. However, as this player is pretty well known in the UK poker scene, is it not worth giving this a thread of its own? I mean the likelihood of someone seeing this is much slimmer in this thread and it seems like this could end up running a lot deeper. Just a thought.

We've backed Edmundaso / Edmundas Matuliavicius since October, 2013.

Edmundas Matuliavicius asked us for a loan last week. We let him know that the loan would be given on the condition that his volume increases (it has been very low for the last 6 months), also due to his weak performance and low volume we lowered his limits slightly.

Edmundaso decided that since we were lowering his limits he needed a larger loan then the one originally requested:

[Tuesday, December 20, 2016 8:26 PM] edmundas.m. - Edmundaso: i dont need then,i need good limits,if im runing bad its the reason to cut limits?,its so weird,if i play that crap how i can win something good?its just couple good trn in this shedule,i cant play hot 27.,33,progresive 22,turbo 22,progresive 6max 22 27,no big 27,no buble rush over7.5
[12/20/2016 8:26:44 PM] Standard Backing: so you don't need a loan?
[12/20/2016 8:27:13 PM] edmundas.m. - Edmundaso: if you give me these limits then i nedd 1500
[12/20/2016 8:31:10 PM] edmundas.m. - Edmundaso: if this efects my limits of course no

After this Edmundas Matuliavicius cut off contact. Refusing to send in audits or return funds. We tried reaching out to Edmundas Matuliavicius multiple times, even having a friend reach out to Edmundaso. Edmundas Matuliavicius told his friend 'it is none of your business'.

Today we saw Edmundaso playing the Hot $33 with our funds.

He is currently $1,381.93 in makeup and has $2,091.06 of our funds.

If you need any more information please PM us.

This stems from a staking agreement several years back, in 2013-2014 if memory serves. Staked him for 180s, had a few chops I believe, and then he hit a standard downer. Shortly thereafter, he claimed to be hacked and that the money was stolen from his Stars account. At the time I wasn't aware of how to follow the money trail and I took him at his word (It was this time he also changed usernames, giving credence to the claim that he was indeed hacked).

However, at that point I obviously felt uncomfortable sending more money because the account/computer could be insecure. He understood and agreed to pay me back the total $ stolen + MU for a total of $4300.

We were on friendly terms and I was doing well, so I didn't pressure him much outside from a few sporadic messages on Facebook every couple of months. In the last year I ramped up efforts to get repaid, only to be repeatedly ignored or rebuffed. He did make one payment (for $6) through Paypal which leaves the remainder of $4294.

Note: At the time of the agreement, I was completely unaware of this subforum and the multiple negative feedback posts previously given to Luke. In addition, I clearly handled my side poorly and was too "nice" about giving him time to pay back. All that said, I feel neither of those warrants being scammed and perhaps my post can help prevent him from doing the same to someone else.

Ivars is actively looking for staking at the moment I highly advise against giving him a stake. I wish I would have checked this thread sooner and seen atlantiside's post because since this post was made me and another stable staked him.

Cliffs:

>Ran up MU for a couple thousand $ and then played casino games and lost the roll at another stable.

>Stable manager decides to cut him while in MU since he can't trust him with a reload after this.

>We give him a 2nd chance with the understanding that if he joins our stable he agrees to not play casino games at all

>He doesn't play casino games while staked by us but it still ends up being a terrible and very expensive experience because of other reasons.

Apparently screwed over a Brazilian team that chose not to post in here. They later came to us (today) and showed us proof that this individual accepted a $900 starting bankroll from us and then sent $450 to them immediately thereafter.

We've received hostility from some Brazilian backers for staking guys who have screwed them over in some way, yet they continue to not post in here. We don't work with guys who have negative feedback in this thread. If you decide not to post in here, do not later come to us asking for help with a guy that stole from you and is now playing for us.

Austin owes $533 that is in his cashier. He has played 190 games in 4 months and claims to be on an oil rig where he can't transfer the money back. Not sure if being truthful so will update if/when the money is transferred back.
