Daniel Smith from Corby , originally applied using an email with Anthea McNamee as the name listed, we think it's possible he'll apply to other groups using accounts registered to this other name.

We worked with Daniel Smith from November 2016 until August 2018. During that time we generally had no problems with Daniel. Though he did specifically refer his friend Michael Lyons "Flopdead21" and when Michael Lyons stole our funds Daniel offered to add it to his makeup (which he's never repaid).

In May 2018 Daniel Smith asked us for loans to tide him over while his part-time job dried up. When we agreed to give a loan to Daniel , he said:

At this point we agreed to Daniel Smith paying us $500/month and repaying the loan + all outstanding makeup over time for a total of $10,400. Part of the agreement was that he would unlock sharkscope whenever we asked and inform us of all site usernames.

Daniel Smith paid us one month and then started dodging payments / ignoring us. Daniel Smith has been playing a lot of volume and from what we can tell has made in excess of $10k in the intervening 5 months. In January he promised to pay us $1,000:

Needless to say we never received a payment. We tried doing a call to reach a better understanding in February (after he repeatedly told us the $1k would arrive tomorrow / next week / Monday etc.):



We offered to reduce the payments to a fluctuating amount of Profit minus his stated monthly expenses x 50% (so if he made $1,000 and had $500 in monthly expenses he'd pay us $500 x 50% = $250).

Daniel Smith has continued dodging us and at this point we believe he has no intention to repay us:

I wonder what happens to a stake if he "plays non-agreed to games" and wins?

Do you still kick him out and tell him he has to eat the profit for the games that he was not supposed to play on the stake?

Industry standard in this situation is that the tournament counts towards the stake if the horse profited in the tournament, and the horse covers the buyin if the horse did not profit in the tournament. It's basically like a reverse freeroll for the horse to incentivize against playing off-stake games that are either not allowed at all, or if a player is using stake funds to play off-stake games without permission.

Karolis messaged us on March 23rd to say that there was an accident with his laptop and he had to use our money to purchase a new one. He said that he did not have a way to contact us and ask before doing this.

What stuck out to us is that he withdrew the money from poker sites to purchase this new laptop. If he was able to do that, he should have been able to message us on Skype or Email us.

We asked Karolis to send us all funds and return what he "borrowed" to us. Once he did this we would discuss internally whether we should continue. We actually planned to continue with Karolis but we wanted him to send all funds and to discuss how inappropriate this was.

Karolis did not send us all funds, continues to play online poker, and is not responding to any of our communication attempts via Skype and Email.

At the start of April, Roberto informed us that he managed to share computers with a player he was coaching privately and Stars decided to freeze his account as a result of this pending further investigation. The updates have been minimal to say the least, so I'll keep this to the bare facts as we currently have them.

1 - His account is still frozen (unless Stars or Roberto can spare a moment to tell us otherwise)
2 - He had some funds in there, and is on a $1600 stake, which under the terms of the contract he is fully liable for after failing to take reasonable steps to protect his account
3 - He has a private loan outstanding of $600


We will update this post when we have an update, or repayments start to materialise. As things stand, Roberto is still under stake with us and has a liability of $2200, so he shouldn't be playing on that account or for any other backer until this is resolved.
