If there's no coaching involved then "being bad with money" is the most common reason. I'm through this myself. If the player in question spends more money than he wins (if he was honest at least) then it also might be a way to control himself from playing games he's underrolled for or whatever.
Also, the player in question got (that's my opinion and I could be wrong there) an extremely good deal. If I was him, I would play every single day having this deal. Even a breakeven player could make a good living earning 25% no matter how deep they are in MU (depending what one considers a good living though) in NL1K games
