Lets say somebody vouches once on 2p2 for somebody for lets say the WSOP main, posting in the thread a confirmed vouch.

If the player then plays venetian main and scams is this person liable for the vouch?

Lets say the play goes to barca and scams, is the vouch still applicable then?

What about WSOP main event 2016?

etc

Fwiw Imo If you vouch for somebody that always stands.

I wouldn't vouch for somebody if I though there was ever a chance they would scam anyone ever.

To vouch for somebody shouldn't be taken lightly and as a temporary thing especially if you have a good reputation such as yours. Also the person being vouched for can always refer back to the vouch for future staking without the knowledge of the voucher.

Unless you then withdraw your vouch in public which I can only presume would be a messy situation with somebody you once would vouch for.

Seems like alot of people vouch for eachother left and right in the MP.

Theres a big difference between acting as a positive refrence, saying things like; "After all the business ive done with mr.x i think its unlikely he will do anything out of line" and vouching for someone.

If you decide to vouch for someone, you should be ready to take the hit. Unless you somewhere along the way have made it clear to all involved that you can no longer vouch for the person in question.

Vouching for pokerplayers is unnecessary gambling imo, as peoples economical situations change so quickly in this game, as does their treshold for doing something out of line when they suddenly find themselves in a desperate spot. Like we have seen a few examples of lately, like overselling for events etc etc.

0 days, in the terms you mean.

Most people in the Marketplace, when they say they vouch for someone, don't mean that they're guaranteeing the funds. They mean they're vouching for the person's character, trustworthiness, etc.

I'd never assume a vouch to mean anything more than that unless they explicitly say they are guaranteeing the funds, and then I wouldn't expect such a guarantee to extend to anything beyond the event(s) in question.

I think the first and bigger issue is the definition of 'vouch'. Some people assume a vouch is just a character reference and some people assume it means that the 'vouch-er' is liable for any $ lost and thus on the hook for the amount.

When I say in threads/real life that I vouch for someone, I generally mean I can vouch for them as a decent person/very unlikely to scam - but i'll always clarify after that it's not a hard-vouch (i'm on the line for any $) because I know different people interpret the word differently.

Probably only one person I would hard vouch for. Zero poker players. Even trustworthy people get desperate sometimes.

As for OPs question, IMO you hard-vouch for someone you're on the line for the long run.

There's the answer.

If I was offering a "vouch" to me it would specifically mean that I consider their debt my debt if the scam. I am aware that others in the MP do not mean it as such, and don't take it as anything more than a positive reference. And that's too bad.
