If someone owes 50k but has a sad story and pays 200$ a week is that considered scummy? Where is the line? What would you consider slowpaying?

I would say it is OK if he pays $5000 per week.

Surely that depends on their money coming in.

This .....And their other commitments family etc. $200 a week is a pretty decent amount if kept up. Debt principal will be paid off in like 5 years . Not close to scummy unless their affordability is much more

Define 'sad'!

Most 'sad stories' are BS and the person often isn't so sad that they aren't out all weekend spending 'your' money in the casino.

If it's really sad - and true - put a time limit on the small payments. But set it closer to an amount that YOU are able to handle. $1/2000 per month for 3 or 4 months or something. That should be plenty of time for them to sort things out - then it's big payments, or else, time.

How is anyone supposed to answer this with pretty much no information?

Here's the only correct answer - it depends.

Are you going somewhere with this thread that is relevant to this forum, or are you just looking for answers?
