Some Help time again serious SOS

I have been doing Ok, but many a times finished between 19-30 the later part of those finishes when I was above the average chip stack of $8k+. I pushed in with some moderate hands.

Should we follow the excel to the tee. Coz I sadly cannot resist the sight of A9s or A8 off after a run of dry cards and invariably get called to get beaten. Ofcourse Bad Beats are there too, but any suggestion as to how to convert these deep finishes to final table finishes.

Coz I see lot of crazy all ins going around, in the last 30 or so and an unlikely chip lead with a KQ off suit, is this the norm of the game? Should we gamble like this hear or still go by the solid push fold instructions. Any advise hugely welcome, I know its very very beginner’s question but SOS much appreciated

I suggest you dig up some HHs and post them. You will get good advice that way. Sorry, but I can't make any sense of the examples in your post.

Thanks a zillion for the reply..

My Query was about playing moderate hands in the 180 turbos when its down to 4 or 5 tables. Many a times I was above the average stack and some times even higher, but ended up losing because I shove with hands like A10o, A8s etc. I know the reply is simple, but should there be a mad rush of push folds when it comes down to 30 players or less to go into the final table with an edge or you can afford to be patient with stack size of 4-5 BBs.. I some how rush at this stage and make a pretty moderate finish.

Also I'am in need of a list of "Should Not Dos" in (Caps & Bolds) in regular tournaments. Am again building a decent stack but tend to over play few mediocre hands & find myself in trouble. Of course there is also the tale of your better getting sucked out to much inferior hand, but I really want eliminate no eradicate such loose ends from my game and make it more solid so that my ITM is much higher. Right now its hovering around 12% from 700 tournaments, but am sure the sample is not good enough.

Am an absolute beginner who was fortunate enough to clock up $10k winnings in first 5 months, with two wins coming from major tournaments, But please help me further in filling in these loose ends. I even contemplate meditation for this process to enable better concentration & help me to cope with bad play better...

I am not sure if Microsoft Works can do all the calculations in the spreadsheet

There are VLOOKUPS (lots of them), pull down lists, and conditional formatting in the sheets, and if works can't handle that, then I suggest trying the freeware OpenOffice. Others have said that works well.

Unnecessary to say how great this sheet is, i wonder if you or me can convert it into a vba app to start it without the need to open excel?

Regards.

I was thinking the same....how good is your vba? I thought we might be able to parse HH into this doc and have it run automatically, but one hand later, as your HH is updated from the site.

Hi,

first I want to thank JITxpert, really great tool!!!!!

But I have two questions...

I mostly play low limit turbo SNGs and in this format it is very hard to precisely evaluate your opponents' calling ranges because you have to start pushing very early and you don't have a good read on your opponents yet...

I have a general feel of what an average player's calling range is and I use that number if I don't have a good read on a specific opponent, but using this approach, I found that it's not that good of an idea to make borderline pushes...

How high do you advise I should set the red cells zone to compensate for this variance?

And my other question is: assuming your evaluation of opponents' calling ranges is 100% spot on. Should you push every borderline +EV hand or should you still set the red cells zone higher (how much) if you think you are a better than average player??

I know there is no exact answer to this, I just want to hear your opinions.

Thanks in advance and good luck at the tables
