Hello!
I was in a Global Poker $22 freezeout MTT and had this preflop hand situation where I thought all options were bad. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Level: 50/100/10
9 handed
Pot: 240
I rs TT 300 UTG with a 3800~ stack.
Folds to Button who raises to 900. At the time I had no tangible read on the player but generally thought this raise was strong. I figured AQ+ and TT+. I doubted that I would see 99 here but this MTT usually plays pretty soft, so who knows.
Action Folds to me. Now I thought all options were bad. I didn't like shoving into what I thought was a (perceived) strong range but maybe I'm supposed to shove while only having 38bb and with antes already in play? Calling seemed bad because of potential of overcards and obv playing OOP is not ideal. Folding seemed overly nitty and I don't think I could fold this hand with the way a good amount of people play (poorly) in this event.
I called because I didn't want to jam. I did have a plan of check/jamming low flops though.
Flop: K 9 3
Pot: 2040
Heads Up
I check. He checks back after a few seconds.
Turn: 8
I decide to put QQ/JJ to the test to see if they can make this call and shove for 2900~.
Any thoughts are very welcome and appreciated.
