Hey Everyone, former pro about 10 years ago and just getting back into playing regularly again - have had a ton of success in some small stakes MTT lately but just busted out in early in this one and wanted to get everyone’s thoughts.
7 handed - $130 buy in -110 players
Blinds are 300/600/600 BB Ante
Only been playing an hour and a half - no real reads
34k effective
My Hand: Q♠️9♠️
Position - Button - UTG limps, I limp, both blinds call
Flop is Q♥️8♠️3♠️ - Small Blind bets $1800, SB raises to $4000, UTG calls, I move all in for - SB folds - BB calls - UTG folds - BB tables 3♦️3♥️ for bottom set. I don’t hit the run out. - I think I probably wasn’t going anywhere anyway but with all the action post flop didn’t think that probably some of my outs were in the hands of others - too soon - not a good hand to limp in and see a flop on the button?
I dont like the shove. Just cold call the raise and see a turn. I think we are always drawing when called and some of our spade outs are probably dead, in fact we could be against a higher fd too. Maybe you fold out a QT, QJ hand but this hand is way too strong to turn into a semibluff imo.
I'm not really thrilled to get get this many blinds in with this hand on this flop. Issue is when this happens you've jammed 550 blinds with having only a flush draw now since when you're called your pair likely isn't good.
^ Its only 60BB deep but calling the limp is fine - iso raise fine also -
as played BB range is pretty strong - a lot of 2p+ I think shove is not good - cold call not great either but prob go with that
Definitely not happy to stack off on this flop with the action in front. Best we can hope for here is being behind AQ / KQ with (hopefully) 12 clean outs; we're in horrible shape vs sets. Also possibility of SB / BB 2 pair specials.
