What is your plan, when you are raising? What is your raising range OTF? If you don't know answers to these questions, then x/r is not a good idea. Anyway i would just called OTF, then reevaluate OTT, if another 7 would i would x/c again, as played without any info on the villain, i would fold to his shove, cause we have a lot of better hands in our range with which we can call this shove.

Min raise from that position smells all connected hands. He has a lot of 7s in his range.
I would play x-c flop and play check call depending his bet size. If no info, fold is right in my opinion.

x/c flop you're almost never correct x/r top pair by itself

I understand it may be obvious to many, but could you explain in more detail why x/c is better than x/r here?

One argument against that is getting value from many combos (QT, JT, Q9, K9 plus flush draws and weaker pairs) and in general to deny equity for high cards (AJ-AK, KQ). All of these are cbetting the flop as a semi bluff and there are not that many better hands in his range.

Equity-wise it seems that x/r is getting more value, so there must be another reason why x/r is considered worse here.

Can anyone post a more detailed analysis?

When you have TP in a spot like this you extract the most value by using it as a bluff-catcher and letting villain bet into you with weaker hands. A x/r risks folding out many hands you beat, either now or on the turn. That's why the best approach is usually to x/r a polarized range on the flop but x/c with decent value hands.
