Should I fold this preflop or is it fine to limp IP? Considering there are so many people in the pot already.
Calling the flop is obv. standard. I checked the turn to pot control with top pair and a weak kicker and maybe keep some kind of bluff catcher on the river. Unfortunatly he Barry Greenstein's the river and gets there with the Ace. There are a lot of aces in his range, but it could also have been a good card to bluff on, I thought.
In short, should I have folded preflop?
Should I have bet the turn?
Should I have folded the river?
The over-call pf is fine this deep and ip. I think you can check or bet turn, my first thought was to check back but maybe it's better to bet???
The ace does seem like a good card for him to bet but what would he have here? I doubt he's going to turn 6's, 7's and 8's + into a bluff. Same with big pp's QQ's, KK's. Seems like he's polarized to having absolutely nothing or the ace. More likely he has the ace. I lean towards a fold.
Villains range should have a lot of overcards - AK, AQ, AJ, ATs, KQs, KJs, KTs, QJs, QTs et al. Pairs 77-AA.
I don't mind the call pre. We're getting good odds, in late position, with a hand that can flop well. No other choice from me here.
Flop - standard.
Turn - what hands in his range is he checking here after leading flop? Definitely not AA, KK, QQ or AJo/AJs so we can discount those. Maybe TT, 99, 88, 77... and probably a lot of AK, AQ, ATs, KQs etc...the only hands I'd worry about at this stage are KJs and QJs which he could check for pot control. I'd go ahead and bet here around 70% and feel pretty good. He should be folding a lot, but any raise, we can comfortable fold and any call, we can then re-evaluate river, and make a comfortable fold to any lead with A hitting his range hard.
