Terrible Spot to Shove? Terrible Spot to Shove?

Hi all. I will start by saying I am new to online SSMTT's and tourneys in general as I have only ever really played cash games. I have played about 4 tournaments recently, including 1 final table and 2 min cashes, and can see why they are so popular, as I am having a blast playing and learning them.

Ok, spot in question. Sorry I don't have exact stats and numbers as I am at work and don't have the hand history available. I remember the important stuff though.

We are in around 40th out of 140, 126 paid, with 100k in chips at 2kBB. Villain is the only stack the covers me at 120K. I've only played a few hands at this table.

Villain limps UTG: I honestly read this as very strong as there are a lot of jamming stacks at the table.

Folds to Hero MP AJhh: Raise to 6K

CO calls and Villain raises to 12K, Hero calls, CO calls.

Flop: 8h4h3c

Villain Bets 20K

Hero Jams 88K, CO folds, Villain calls.

I put him on QQ+ preflop, and wanted max value if a heart came without him improving. I thought if I made the flush in the later streets and all he had was an over pair, he wouldnt give any action.

This was for a top five stack in the tournament.

Break it down for me please?

Limp/raise utg is pretty much amateurs KK+ it doesn't happen otherwise. What reason does this board give him to fold? We're behind with no fe. Lay it down pre to the 3b and probably come in at like 2.4x not 3x. 50bb deep this close to the money we gotta cash here, don't tangle with the big stack.

I imagine part of your reasoning for jamming is you didn't want to have to fold a blank turn once he jams. That's a reasonable instinct which I'd say would have most merit if your A and J were live outs. The J isn't and the A probably is but it's close.

It's rare that you are in a spot where you can narrow villains range to 2 or 3 hands and I feel we should strive to exploit and monetise this additional knowledge, that's your edge. One way to do that would have been to fold pre but I have sympathy with the call. Another is to call flop, fold turn.

I wouldn't worry about not getting action on a flushed turn. With an SPR of ~1 theres not much getting away from KK for a guy who thinks limp-raising is a good line in 2018. What's he gonna do, check-fold?
