Re: ***SSMTT Official Study Buddy/Study Group Thread - Read OP***

I'm looking to join a study group for small stakes MTT. Really trying to improve my game in the next few months and move up to higher levels. Currently grinding the 1$/2$ MTTs on Stars & Full Tilt. Please PM me if there are any groups running or if anyone is interested in joining one.

What I was hoping to get out of this group is for someone to analyze my hand histories of any of my deep runs and I would reciprocate.

My 2+2 Intro

I'm a recreational player, looking to take poker seriously for the first time.

I've been trying out cash games but I do not enjoy them nearly as much as tourneys. Therefore I am staking my flag in the MTT arena and would like to meet a few like minded people to collaborate with, sharing hand histories and doing tournament reviews etc.

I play on pokerstars and my screenname is ToucanYrChip. I'm 28 years old and live in the UK.

I welcome others to introduce themselves to me in this thread and my hope is that we can help each other out some time in the future.

Re: My 2+2 Intro

Welcome to 2+2!

Lots of good lo-stakes tourney players post here, so if you have any tricky hands from your MTTs, you could start threads in this forum. For many of us, this forum is a substitute for a 'study group'.

Good luck!

Re: My 2+2 Intro

Thanks Kamikaze

I've had a couple of deep runs that I may have screwed up a little bit and one victory so far. I've never looked back at hands before but I know it's something I should be doing.

I'm going to download 'Universal Re-player' and go through some of the tournaments this evening. I'll post some of the hands here.

Took 2nd on a $4k Gauranteed on Merge , I feel I was just really lucky maybe I did play well, I dunno lol.

Anywho, would love if someone could skim over it and note some bad plays, missed spots, etc.

I could do the same for someone.

Why would a winning player waste his time with you especially if he's already "winning"? The whole point of this is to take the time to discuss hands with players of equal skill level.

you cant learn anything from equally skilled players. having a different approach to the game is gonna teach you a lot more than 2 kids agreeing on each spot

You're assuming two players of equal skill will have the same thought processes and play-styles - this couldn't be further from the truth.

I do agree, however, that players should have comparable fundamentals and experience in order to maximize the gain for both parties.

equal skill =/ equal roi

equal skill means your skillset is the same.

The majority of the posters here have an equal skill set and they have a desire to win and get better. The later is the most important - To say "o I only want to work with the winners " here is bs imo.

You get better from critiquing others game and talking about it with them. It doesn't matter what their skill set is. If you go over their trouble spots and discuss it with them its a win win.

Your study partner's win rate is completely moot. A skilled player can go weeks months or even a year of run bad giving him a -roi. Conversely a bad player can make unorthodox plays and crush with a run good of the deck.

I'm also a winning player but as we would be winning players of a certain stake, we might not be at ones higher. It's more so to find someone that's driven to move up and improve so its really more about accountability and studying with a partner.

Yeah I agree. In retrospect it was a pointless addition considering what I'm looking for.

SKYPE CHAT - POKER.

Hey all! I've decided to come up with this idea and create a Skype group for fellow grinders to discuss strategies/improvement off their play etc , if your interested just type in your skype addy below. Whether its cash/tourney/sng/ all discussions will be taken place in this group convo.

ONLY give out your skype addy if your serious about it, if not don't bother
