Something basic I noticed in tournament play. Something basic I noticed in tournament play.

I was playing a tourney.
At one point, the blinds got huge.
Let's say $3k/$6k when most stacks were under $20k.
You were going out very soon, one way or another.

6 people left.
Everyone was very tight, and folding except whoever was SB and BB.
Sometimes, SB would call.. Most hands were just the SB and BB.

Was this an opportunity to start betting?
With a marginal hand, I bet 4x the BB and got the $9k ante, which is no joke. I knew they would fold.

I remember once you're at 20BB, it's time to start shoving with anything decent. Here people were at like 2 or 3BB and were folding over and over.

This was being played wrong?

I was thinking of this observation.
Last MTT I played, I kept track of how many BB's I had when the level changed.
I was at 50BB, then got down to about 25BB.
I then shoved my big pair once I was at this level.

What the **** are you talking about

I believe in being aggressive when others are playing tight. So yes this would seem like the time to bet.

Just check some ICM charts for push/calling ranges.

Played poker after like 1-2 years.
Played a MTT $60
I remembered this thread, and read it while at the table.
I was right.

People were very nitty once the blinds were high and stacks were like 20BB
I noticed one or two guys adjusting and stealing blinds.
So, I would 3-bet them, and steal the pot myself, since I had a very tight table image to that point.

Very pleased with my ability to adjust as the blinds progressed.
