Open jam preflop and remove this confusing spot from your session. You're oop with KQ and effective stacks are sub 20 blinds.

I think if BB has 12 bigs or less it is an open jam. However, I don't think open jam here is wise at 17 BB. Blind v blind our range was very strong pre but this flop certainly connects with BB defend range. It would be good to know if we have been raising this opponent's BB on previous rounds and how often this opponent defends. Absent that info, check call flop and evaluate the turn.

You can open jam any king in the SB as +cEV always. A king beats a random hand. There was an old Dan Kelly thread in hsmtt (which is almost assuredly archived now so I'm not gonna look for it) but he open jams 20 effective bbs in the sb covering Nutsinho (I think or another rager from back in the day lmfao). He jams the QT and binks vs nutsinho's KK or something and he's raging and replies were laughing at them saying DK owned him cause it's unexploitable. Classic thread, good times.

Sure but people tend to over value their ability to play postflop and it's not exactly that strong. KQs flops a lot better and could work better for picking combos.
