hey,

I am struggling a lot with this subject.

I used to call only K5+ because some pro said that.
the other one calls with JT etc.
and the last one also calls with 78s.

when 8-15 BB effective stacks which Hands should the big blind call in the blind battle ?

thank you

With 8-15BBs you should probably be shoving your medium to strong hands and flatting/shoving the very top of your range (maybe TT+).

How many of you are flatting K5+ and 78s with 8-15 effective BBs?

Tricky stack to play with, I'll call a bit loser with a suited connector but probably J10ss being the lowest, a lot depends on the player shoving into you as well. If he's aggressive enough I'm calling almost all A's and K's, good Q's and even J's to.

would you Call QJs if you saw Villain shove Hands like T4s nad 85s in equal spots ? I was wrong and got really upset today multiple times.

People underplay QJs with short stacks. It's really a great short stacked hand and plays incredibly well against A2-A7 (it's almost a flip against most of those hands), blocks QQ and JJ and obviously flips against lower pairs. It's more powerful than people give it credit for.

It all depends on the history with the player.
I have people noted with "shoving 100% bvb" and people "shoving 30%" for example.

You fix your calling range depenging on what your opponent is capable to do

My views are that you should always play situationally and adapt to your table and your opponents. That said, this exact situation has been solved (Nash) so you won't do too much wrong sticking to it.

Obviously, it the SB has folded to you the last 10 times and then all of a sudden shoves all in the 11th, you'd obviously want to tighten up your calling range as much as possible given what we think and assume our opponents range is likely to be.

In summary, learn Nash, but make sure you're using all the information that you've collected during the session.

It depends on the shove range. At 15BBs with a 10% ante the shove charts give a range such as:

22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J2s+, T3s+, 95s+, 84s+, 74s+, 63s+, 53s+, 43s, A2o+, K2o+, Q5o+, J7o+, T7o+, 97o+, 86o+, 76o.

You would have to call 14BBs to win 16.5BBs so you need 46% equity to call. So your call range would be:

22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q6s+, J8s+, T9s, A2o+, K5o+, Q8o+, J9o+ (39.7% of hands)

That is the theory ranges. If you were the SB and the BB did not call often enough, you should increase your range to exploit their tight calling ranges. (in this case, if the BB called with less than 13% of hands, you can shove ATC and freeroll on the calls.)

If the SB is shoving tighter, your range to call has to tighten up. If they are shoving wider, your range to call has to widen.
