WSOP.com $7 R&A, rebuy period over

UTG: 45 bb
UTG+1: 115 bb
Hero : 34 bb
HJ: 41 bb
CO: 39 bb
BU: 130 bb
SB: 46 bb
BB: 49 bb

Pre-Flop: (2.5 bb) Hero is LJ with QQ
UTG limps, 1 fold, Hero 5x, 4 folds, BB calls, UTG calls

Flop: (16.5 bb) T 9 7 (3 players)
2 checks, Hero bets 12.5 bb, BB folds, UTG calls

Turn: (42 bb) A
UTG checks, Hero checks

River : (42 bb) K
UTG bets 7.5 bigs, Hero? (17 bigs behind)

Preflop seems standard to me. Shoving 34 bb over one limp seems excessive with QQ, but seems like the only alternative to 5-6x iso.

Flop also seems pretty standard to me too? Certainly betting, is the sizing too big? Given awkward 2:1 SPR, do I just grip it and rip it?

Did I miss a shove on the turn? I feel like I absolutely did not, but I’m bad postflop.

As played, what do we do on river?

I'd prob bet the flop smaller 3 ways. Could check some overpairs but betting this combo seems fine.

Pre seems fine, I'd probably make it only 3x even with a limper
But since you got 2 calls you could probably go even bigger at this table.

I like the big flop bet, there's only a few hands that have you beat and a lot that will have hit this board somehow but that you beat.

Shoving turn is horrible imo, you force villain to play correctly, folding everything worse and only calling with stronger hands.

Betting smaller on the turn leaves you in a very awkward spot so I like the check.

River seems like a must call with this sizing.
I like checking twice, could fold to a larger bet.

In real time, I was using a bigger size because of so many (perceived) auto-continues and trying to size it to get stacks in on turn. In hindsight, a 4 bb bet sets up a PSB shove on turn, so that is a *terrible* job of doing math in the moment. I think there is merit to betting 3/4 pot some of the time with this specific holding, but not for the reasons I was using in the moment. Once the Ac hit the turn, I was pretty much a basketball player driving to the lane who jumps and doesn't know if he's going to pass or shoot.

I don't know that I'd think to check overpairs on T97 just because of the amount of (what I deem to be) auto-continues. T94 and I find a ton of overpair checks, so I bet it's my mediocre reading of board textures.

I agree with that reasoning for using a big flop bet, and I think that makes it viable. I can also see using a smaller sizing, especially because I can get stacks in just the same.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. However, looking at it now, 17 bb shove into 42 bb will (rightfully) get action from hands I'm beating just because of odds. JxTc, any pair with 8, etc.

I also think it is a must call given those odds. Unfortunately, real-time nitty jerk me went for the fold.

Betting is prob the best default play but checking sometimes is fine too.
