Playing a ~15bb stack when everyone is short Playing a ~15bb stack when everyone is short

This isn't a hand per se, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on playing a relatively short stack when pretty much everyone is short (25bb-5bb).

For example, I was dealt A7o on the BTN w/ 14bb. BB is the chip leader with 35bb, and sb has 15bb. Tournament average is 16bb and there are 30 people left. Is this a jam? Limp (gasp)? Open? Opening and getting jammed on seems a tragedy, and jamming seems bad when in a relative sense, we have a healthy stack.

in the situation that you give we don't need to be getting too worried about everyone else's stacks - up to the final table we're still basically trying to build a stack capable of getting one of the top few spots - so yes jam

This makes perfect sense, thanks. I still sometimes lose sight of the fact that we need to play to win in spots like these.

It may take a 'few' tournaments to finally build that stack for the final table, but it will be worth it and you'll give yourself the best chance to win the tournament if you take +EV spots like this. The bigger the stack the bigger the payoff.
