Overshoving on the River - Too much? Overshoving on the River - Too much?

Hi there everyone and appreciate the great community. Decided that I really need to start sharing some hands to get feedback on my play and improve.

I've been experimenting with large overbets on the river lately and this is an example where I would have only bet 2/3 pot on river, but instead jammed hoping he'd put me on busted flush draw and pushing the paired board aspect. The villain was a rock which lends me to believe this was the wrong play.

Thanks in advance.

First, the move isn't likely to work when the pot is so small. There just isn't enough incentive for him to make a call.

Second, is that how you would play a busted diamond draw?

The problem here is you have bad removal effects. You block top pair and rivered top pair.

Vs your sizing he doesn't have to defend so much. He can pitch any 88-TT he gets to the river with without any concern so you don't want to block the hands he has to consider calling with if he want to stop you auto-profiting.

So A5s, 55 or AA would be better choices to overbet.

Darth and Bearer,
Great feedback and I know see the errors of my ways. I was pretty aggro and was the big-stack bully during this time which helped build my stack against fishy players with these types of plays. I didn't account for the type of player and didn't consider the calling range which would only have me crushed, so I agree it was a bad overshove. He's never calling with worse and he's probably only calling me with AQ, QJ or QT and I only get overshove value from AQ which is not even the likely holding based on removal effects (per Bearer). Thanks for the feedback and I'll take this back into my game.
