Re: Need some 180man pro help

These are meant to be videos for people who play like $1-$2 180mans, not exactly pro stuff. Of course I know enough to make a video right now to show a profitable playing style for $1 180mans and considerably higher. It's not like I'm actually asking someone to teach me a new game I have no clue how to play so I could get paid for it. I just want to make sure my content is as good as possible and that's why I thought revision would be in order. I'm sure every training coach in the world watches videos by other people, at least they should be? I don't see what's wrong with doing that, should be the other way 'round imo.

I also wasn't hired as a SNG coach but as an MTT coach, and I'm not going to need any help with that content this is just on the side, but due to communication issues between me and the site I'm going to have to start from the 180mans with an uncomfortably fast schedule, which is why I asked.

I really don't see how this is any different from a deucescracked mixed game coach asking "hey guys my hi/lo is a bit rusty and I need to make a horse video soon, any links/help please?"

And the ICM stuff I was referring to is the spots in turbo 180mans when people have .5BB stacks and you have AK and people are shoving etc. I understand that the flatness of the prize structure means that ICM isn't there a lot but as far as I remember the turbos are crazy and have like 10BB avg stacks on the bubble, and when people get really short and there are multiple <1BB stacks in your table it has to mean something more than in a regular MTT right? So yeah this whole thread is about the nuances rather than learning the whole thing again. I've played close to 10k SNGs in my life too.

Re: Need some 180man pro help

Not sure what you mean about ICM issues. First of all, there is almost no postflop play in these once you get anywhere near the money. Pushing 4xBB in early position before the bubble without a quality hand is generaly suicidal, as you almost always get called.

You can exploit the cash and final table bubbles. At the final table, there are ICM issues, but people are playing tight and the payments are top heavy.

Most 180 videos are by real marginal pros and not very good.

I haven't seen any situations where you would fold AK with .5BB. Also, folding to move up is not real important in these, but there are situations in 45 players where it occurs. However, people play tighter late in 45 players and you generally need to be aggressive.

Re: Need some 180man pro help

I love 180 men, the turbo versions are generally quite fast paced as the blinds get bigger and the bubble approaches so feel playing tight at the begginning like a normal mtt is fine but changing gears and making them crucial decisions as it goes on are what gives you that edge, becoming loose helps as the blinds increase,, so mainly making them thin calls against fairly short stack pushes are quite important as are making some big decisions in the final table in order to win...

So my main things are
1. Playing tight in the early stages
2. Blind stealing
3. Bvb decisions (dependant on stacks and player image)
4. Making them thin calls and against aggressive players
5. Not being scared to flip for your tournament life!

I've been asked to give a lecture on structural engineering at Oxford University. Could anyone here talk me through how to build a tower with Lego blocks?

No I mean where you have like 12BBs w/AK, someone who covers you shoves and there are people with .5BBs in your table.

Re: Need some 180man pro help

Everything you need to know about low level 180s was taught by Annette_15 with her eyes closed, and no commentary.

With that said, ICM calculations can be somewhat difficult because they rely on your ability to read your opponents range somewhat accurately, which can be very difficult at low levels. With that being said, the distinction between shoving/calling ranges should be emphasized and most players could use a refresher on what the basic assumptions of the ICM are, and how they apply to OOTM vs ITM play. Between that and a heavy emphasis on the importance of position your video should be plenty good.

If you want to do some work on ICM in a video I'd recommend sitting down with pokerstove and some cranking out some range vs range calculations, and varying chip stacks just to give folks the tools they need to explore it on their own. This will give them a much better introduction to the subject and is infinitely more practical. From the sounds of it you could use a refresher too.
