Early in 5$ MTT no ICM pressure.

Hero with ~90bb on the BB.

CO opens to 3bb, button (50bb eff) calls.

Hero calls with K9o.

(10.5bb) Flop 965 rainbow.

Hero checks, CO checks, button bets 4bb. Hero calls, CO folds.

(19.5bb) Turn 5 (makes a spade draw. I hold no spades)

Hero checks, button bets 10bb, Hero calls.

(39.5bb) River 3 no flush made.

Hero checks, button jams for just under pot (35ish bb).

Hero?

I would fold K9o pre to 3bb sizing - as played turn is close -would fold river without a read

Whats your flatting range with a CO open and BU call here? Why is turn close here? His range has 77, 88,T9s, J9s betting for protection/value, T8s type bluffs that turned a flush draw. Losing to 1010 (unlikely; 3b most of the time), A9, A5, 78s, 56s, 45s? K9o is almost top of my range here, feel like it's a snap call.

honestly don't get narky when you get feedback - doesn't make people want to give their views

I would tend to call hands that have more chance of flopping really strong - more connected / more suited cards - would certainly call K9s for instance or would call K9o if it was a min raise

Not sure what you think is a snap call the turn or the river - my view is that we are not usually happy to gii with a weakish top pair with SPR on the flop of 5, 3 way - by the river we have a bluffcatcher - V is certainly overplaying if he is value betting a weaker hand here and I don't think pop will 3 street bluff enough here

- given that we are not keen to call 3 streets we don't want a large part of our range to call 2 and have to fold even on a good river - so we have to be wary of calling K9 - we can still be ahead of value range but many players are checking back with a weaker pair here given that we have more 5s in our range - I think it is maybe ok to call but not clearcut imo. I'm sure that if other people disagree they will say

Sorry if I came across that way, meant them as genuine questions but can see how they were taken the wrong way. Not my intention, my apologies. Thanks for the reply.

I agree with oldgoat, this is a trap hand to defend against a 3x open and call. I'd rather put it in my 3b bluff range than defend with it.

As played, do you see button triple-barrelling with any hands you beat? Or more accurately, enough hands you beat?

K9o is no where near the top of your range. You can have 78o, 56, 555, 666, 96s etc all on the turn. I'm not saying I would just give up but it's not like villain is betting hands with showdown value like 77-88 when he can just try and get to showdown vs a wide flop range (BB defend).
