Hi guys,

6 Max, MTT online. We are ITM with 33 players left in the tournament

In this situation I had about 14 BBS left in my stack. Everybody folds and i am in the button with KJoff an i went all.

My perception of the blinds was as follows: The Big blind is the chip leader an a solid player and the Small Blind was quite tight. I ended up losing to the SB that QQ showed.

My question for all of you is:

What other alternatives do i have in this situation. Can i raise 2.5 BBs pre and if any of the Villians 3Bet fold and try to maintain an stack of 11 BBs.

The times that I have had great runs, is when I'm short, and jam Kx pre. You have the option to fold, you need chips, it's kind of Go Time.

Shove > Bet/Call > Fold >>>> Bet/Fold

In this case I'd advise against the SB having QQ

There's nothing you could do, 14bb on the BTN with broadway is a dream scenario. This is a super fast shove.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I think bet/fold can definitely be a viable strategy with a 14 bb stack. You're not automatically in push/fold mode. It depends on stack sizes and tendencies of the players behind you. However, I would be opening to 2x at that stack depth and not 2.5x.

In this particular case, the problem you have is the chip leader two to your left. He's gonna call or jam on pretty much any 2x open. It would be nice to know the size of his stack to know how much fold equity you may or may not have with a 14 bb stack. That said, I'm probably jamming any hand I'm playing here. The fact you ran into QQ is just unlucky.

What is the stack size of the CL? compared to the AVG or table AVG.

You say the SB is tight and the BB is CL + solid player (prob aggro in this situation):

x2 OR:
-SB raises only better hands -> easy fold
-BB jams very wide to make you fold your trash -> easy call

OS:
-SB calls only better hands
-BB calls only better hands + hands we are flipping against and maybe (probably not) worse broadways: QJ, KT, JT

Are there bounties involved?
If yes, 100% OS
If not, i'd probably r/c vs BB and r/f vs SB

I guess vs an aggro BB you could also limp/push and be flipping against all his low Ax, ahead vs his Kx and likely some suited connectors.

I don't think KJo is a no brainer push in this situation (would be with 10 bb), I guess it is borderline and you can adapt to the players on the blinds.

I totally misread this. Jam is fine, r/f is ok if you have a read. I thought you were at the final table.

Shove is best. You don't want to r/f or r/gii with this hand.

Why would we never wanna r/f KJo? I mean this exact situation we prob don't want to but there's def times I'm ok taking a hand that flops awful and blocks their rejam range while not wanting to be all in.
