To rip or not to rip on river To rip or not to rip on river

Played my first live tournament for some time yesterday, thought this was an interesting earlyish spot:

£125 freeze out

6-handed - table is very passive and rec-heavy.
Hero UTG/LJ A J 12,000
Villain BB 14,000 - definitely a rec, but he joined the table late and had only played 1 or 2 orbits.

Blinds 200/400/400 level 4

Hero opens 1k
Bb calls

Flop (2,600) K Q 4

Bb check
Hero bets 1,200
Villain calls 1,200

Turn (5,000) 9

Villain checks
Hero bets 2,600
Villain tank calls

[I]On reflection I'm not in love with this turn bet. JT gets there. KJ/KT definitely continues; QJ/QT definitely continues; T9 possibly continues and maybe 98 sometimes - but, V took his time before calling flop, so I put him on some middling strength hand and fired again, with the intention of jamming most rivers./I]

River (10,200) 5

Villain checks
Hero - Aborted mission and checked back. After his tanking on the turn I put him on either a super weak K or Qx. But the 9 could have made him 2 pair I guess; the 5 on the river didn't change anything, so I think a rec player might get married to top pair, shrug and call it off; we block QJ so his one pair Qx look like QT maybe Q8-6s; and he could have turned the nuts and he was tanking because he was considering raising.

Having the J blocks hands like JT/KJ - with which I think he'd call - but I also block QJ/J9 which I am targeting.

We just never win by checking back, maybe there was some sizing besides jamming we could use on the river.

I guess ultimately I felt that I had an edge over the table and didn't need to take the risk - interested to get your opinions on this one
