How light are you willing to get your chips in early in a micro MTT? How light are you willing to get your chips in early in a micro MTT?

This is a spot where I think a fold is "standard." I have an edge over the field and a good stack, so I'm not sure risking it here with JJ is the best move.

BUT, I sometimes wonder if I'm passing up equity/opportunities in these spots because people are raising and shoving with ranges like 22+ AXs, ATo+

So how light are you getting it on average in micro tourneys with no reads on your opponents?

In the micros I'm looking for any spot to get the money in the only way you'll win one of the smaller buyin tournaments is to chip up from the get go as you will need as many chips as you can get it the later stages of he tournament. In this hand I would have probably 4 bet too about 650 and weigh in the option on if he shoves, at least call the 3 bet to see a flop..

    Thanks Bluff,

My concern with flatting is getting 4bet or 5bet out of the pot.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but there was 6 players left to act as well as the UTG opener.

Do you think the average micro player has a wide enough range for us to get all in profitably here? Will 4betting just isolates us against QQ+ and AK?

Yes I generally believe you'll be ahead more often than behind sure you'll run into QQ+ occasionally but at the micros players are capable of a lot of bull **** and I wouldn't be surprised to see them show up with 10's or AK or AQ.

We suck vs that range you mentioned you wouldn't be surprised by!

Villain has to GII a lot wider but im not saying they wont.

Why are we readless on whole table have we just been moved to new table? Its early but its not that early.

Its early but I do think in micros you have to make earlier adjustments with smaller sample sizes as there is simply a bigger differential between players tightness.

What do you mean by GII?

It's pretty early, 15mins or so into the tourney. I can't remember exactly, but I may have late regged or just been moved. At that stage players are being eliminated every couple of hands and being replaced, so it's hard to get reads so early on in the micros

4 betting is pretty terrible. You're only getting called by hands that crush you and villains will fold everything you beat. Basically you're letting your opponents play perfectly.

It's a tricky spot. Folding JJ feels nitty but it's probably the best option based on preflop action. At least it's the option that will give you least headaches. We have 100bb and haven't invested any money in this pot yet. To win an mtt, yes you have to accumulate chips, but you also have to preserve them.

Calling is possible. In a multiway 3bet pot out of position, both villains SHOULD play their hands honestly so you could maybe call one street and then fold to a 2nd barrel. But honestly if you knwo you're going to do that, why call preflop? ^^
