I expect to see an 8 or 9 here more often then not. I'm not sure it's a great hero spot.

IMO this is a jam preflop or a fold.
The problem with both is that you have no fold equity.
Hence I'd rather jam with an ace against one opponent than be on the button with less bb and a minimum of 2 opponents to get past.
