Hand 1: Two pair vs. two opponents, turn four to a straight
Both opponents are fairly loose and on the station-y side.
Preflop: UTG+1 (50bb) limps, LJ (117bb) limps, I (cover both) overlimp the CO with 8
6
. Everyone else folds.
I think this was a decent spot to just limp because the button and blinds were tight and not messing around too much preflop. UTG+1 is also not very deep which isn't great for raising this hand.
Flop (5.9bb): 8
7
6
. UTG+1 checks, LJ bets 2bb, I raise to 6bb, UTG+1 cold-calls, LJ calls.
This pretty clearly should be a lot bigger. I was afraid of unnecessarily committing myself, but even if I go bigger this shouldn't be a huge problem. If I were bluffing, I'd have to bet a lot more anyway.
Turn (23.9bb): 5
. Checks through.
Any merit to betting here for thin value or protection against draws? I pretty much thought it likely one of my opponents caught up as I couldn't imagine both opponents overcalling the flop without a 9. I suppose they could have a combination of diamond draws and smaller two pairs.
River: 9
. UTG+1 bets 12bb, LJ shoves, not much of a decision for me.
Hand 2: Flopped a set, river is a fourth spade
Preflop: UTG (237bb) opens to 2bb, I call in the CO (201bb) with 3
3
, SB (78bb) calls, BB (156bb) 3bets to 11bb. UTG calls, I call, SB calls.
First call is standard, second might be a little loose but we're deep enough to go set mining especially with SB likely to come along.
Flop (44.9bb): 3
K
J
. SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, I bet 19bb, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls.
I'm used to betting smaller on these monotone flops (especially multiway) in cash. Should I be playing this kind of flop more exploitatively and try to get max value from a narrower continuing range?
Turn (89.9bb): 2
. BB checks, UTG checks, I bet 51bb. BB folds, UTG calls.
Would you bet larger here?
River (192bb): 5
. UTG donk shoves 131bb.
Pretty gross. I don't see anyone going beserk with a worse made hand and a two-street calling range includes lots of As so I just folded. I could otherwise have some single-pair hands with a high spade to call with if I desire.
