Generic tournament strategy question

I wasnt sure if this should go in theory or here. Apologies if I got it wrong.

Last night I played a satellite and an interesting hand came up. I raised with AK, got called in two spots and flopped a K. The other two cards were unremarkable except the presence of a flush draw. I led, got a call, and a shove. In a cash game, Id snap here. This was Vs second or third shove and Im holding TPTK. But I ended up folding. I knew he was likely on a draw and if he hit, I was out so I decided to preserve my stack. Is this Reasonable? Is it ever right to fold the best hand in the presence of a draw?

Re: Generic tournament strategy question

Not enough info to say. Its hard to give general strategy advice for a satty bc it changes depending on stack sizes and how close to the bubble you are.

This could be a laughably tight fold now or it could be a fold pre, depending on those factors.

How many people cash? How many are left? What is your stack? Whats the average stack? What is the stack of the person on the bubble at the moment? Start by providing that info and you can get an accurate respond for your situation.

If its earlier in the satty then its an easy stack off. You need to accumulate chips during this time, so you can afford to fold into the money near the bubble. Judging by the way you described the hand I suspect that it is earlier.

Re: Generic tournament strategy question

Thank you for the response. It was really early. I knew it was nitty. If it was cash, I snap. But I convinced myself that having a stack at all was more valuable than the extra chips. I just got into my own head.
