Hi guys

Letīs see if anybody can answer this

I think in a vacuum itīs profitable to shove here: BTN is an aggresive stealer and SB is a loose, recreational player; dont think itīs massively EV+ but yeah, good enough

But what happens if our table is soft? In this table 3 players were really soft and i was having an easy time playing vs them

Soooo in these cases, should we let go some of this slightly profitable moves as in the hand i show or just take them anyway?; we were already ITM, if it helps....

[converted_hand][hand_history]PokerStars - 4000/8000 Ante 1000 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

Hero (BB): 389,876 (48.7 bb)
UTG: 89,060 (11.1 bb)
MP: 67,076 (8.4 bb)
CO: 121,817 (15.2 bb)
BTN: 233,239 (29.2 bb)
SB: 244,295 (30.5 bb)

6 players post ante of 1,000, SB posts 4,000, Hero posts BB 8,000

Pre Flop: (pot: 18,000) Hero has 2 2
3 folds, BTN raises to 16,800, SB calls 12,800 Hero ??

I mean I get the logic behind it but this seems like a call in the big blind.

I will try to HRC it later in the evening and post the result

Nevertheless...ok, imagine its like we have 88-99 or AJs...same question applies...

I think in a very hard table we just have to be aggressive in these spots (even more if you feel you are at a skill disadvantage post flop) but with a soft table..why should we push variance to the limit when there are softer spots?

But eager to know what people think

People tend to overvalue their edge in mtt's and esp so when stacks are shorter effectively. So when stacks are 15-30bb in general (esp around 20~) then you should kinda not worry about your edge and play the most +ev play not sacrifice ev for future stuff assuming not icm related.

Your "edge" comes from making +EV plays. If you pass up +EV spots then you are losing your edge. Particularly when playing <30bb, your edge comes from proper preflop ranges.

When deeper stacked you can justify passing up a high variance/barely +EV spot, but not on a 30bb stack, you have to take every edge you can find.
