Few friends of mine suggested folding AK on the bubble to an open in the BB from MP with 5bb is the better option rather than trying to double up to a stack size with fold equity going into the post bubble bust out when you win.

What's the best play in the long run, what does it depend on and what would you do?

I keep saying this but they're arguement is its more +ev to get the min cash rather than risk losing it all ~35% average etc. Tonkaa gave them the idea but I just don't see it.

So your plan is to get it in later with a worse hand, hoping your 5bb are scary enough to make your opponents fold? If I have 5bb and pick up AK, it's pretty much always going in.

I think there is some value in a min cash but not enough to make me want to leave 1 of my 5 BB behind with AK.
The other point is that sometimes a 5BB stack is inevitable but we shouldn't normally be getting there by blinding down.

In a single table SnG or satty it could be the right play but min cashes in MTTs aren't worth much. With the dead money you stand to triple up with a hand that is never going to be a big underdog.

You could have a legit debate over hands like KQ or 44 in that spot.

Depends on certain factors: info on the raiser and how the rest of the table is playing, my mindset and recent performance, etc. I'm probably more willing to shove KQ than 44 because it plays better multiway if others come along and has potential to dominate other hands.

Anyone see poker stars champions Monte Carlo coverage on 4? Some interesting bubble play there. Almost exact same spot where player stalled with AK and 5bb approaching bubble. He folded and made his 7k min cash. I guess if you’ve satellited in by winning a £50 tournament, then 7k is a major score. I probably do the same tbh! Felt for actual bubble boy... he was desperate to not play but got dealt AQ (which he called in B.B. when he only had 6bb behind - flopped a Q) then shoved QQ v AK and lost his flip. Gutted!!

If folding accomplishes you a mincash, fold it. Double up a small stack on the bubble won’t make a huge difference

Depends how big min cash is really. Although In most MTT it's usually just under double, not that imporant, would rather try and triple with a strong hand here.

Whats important is why are you on 5bb at this stage? ID you lose a big hand recently? If not then maybe you're playing too tight and just bleeding chips too much.

I guess it depends if min cash means something.
snapped off AA in bb in tcoop main 1325 paid eliminated 1327.
How could you be sure you would always have worse than your opponents after bubble?

The best play in the long run is go all in, in that spot I can triple or quadruple the stack and go far in the tournament although of course it is ugly to be eliminated. but it is definitely better to go all in. and think about getting to the final table or dying in the attempt.
