Facing a T jam w/ weak TP in 3bet pot Facing a T jam w/ weak TP in 3bet pot

Here's a hand I just played. I only had 70 hands on villain, but he was opening a ton of pots and playing pretty spewy since I was at his table. A few hands previous he 3bet 10s in the BB vs my iso-raise and instant 1/2 potted a Jxx flop.

I opened in MP w/ a pretty decent stack size, 12/25 in the tournament. Villain made a pretty standard BTN 3bet and I decided to see a flop rather than 4bet (due to stack sizes, etc). Villain makes a suspicious bet on the flop, which I pretty much expect him to do with any air, draw, and some underpairs. I decided to click it back to charge his draws extra. In hindsight (as I rarely if ever make min raises), call probably would have been better--though I wouldn't know how to proceed if the flush came. Villain flats, the turn is pretty bricky, and villain jams behind for a little over a psb effective.

At this point, I think villain definitely has some 2P {A5s, A3s}, and TP combos {AK, AQ}. Villain also only really has {AA} as pocket pairs go, and also a myriad of bluffs {78s+, KQs, XX.. etc}. Hoping someone can help me shed some light on this spot.

I agree, and I would classify 40/38/31 over 70 hands as pretty crazy. Let these guys bet into you.

You are putting yourself in a bad spot by clicking back the flop, because you fold out a lot of the hands you want villain to have here. As played I think I fold, I would be fine calling this down if hero didn't check raise.

The more I thought about this after the fact, the more I hated my x/r. So we can call more comfortably on the river, simply because we're keeping villain's range wider by flatting the flop?

When if ever should we feel the need to make a small x/r? For example, if villain bets some very small amount like <1/4 on a wet board?
