Hi,
I have been making some calculations of EV when shoving from UTG in a 9handed MTT with 10% ante and comparing it with a simulation by holdem resources.
The calculations I made I used a formula provided from this article.
https://redchippoker.com/shoving-ace-high-preflop-math/
The formula is as follows:
EV=F($Pot)+C(%W*$W)-C(%L*$L)
F=Times villain folds
C=Times villain calls
F+C=100%
W%+L%=100%
F and C: Estimations of how often villain will call your shove
%W and %L: Based upon your equity when called
$Pot: The pot size before you shove
$W: What you win when villain calls your shove
Let's say we want to see whether or not A8s with 10bbs utg is a proftiable shove, we expect to get call the most by the big blind 11.5% of times(according to holdemresources). Now we have the information we need to make the calculation.
EV=0.885(2.4)+0.115(0.3788*21.4)-0.115(0.6212*10)
which computes to +2.34; so A8s is going to win us 2.34 big blinds on average when we shove?
Why is this number not the same as holdem resources calculated? which is instead +0.04(
