Hey guys,

I am trying to improve my game by analyzing my database looking at a bunch of different stats from tournaments.
I look at my EV bb/100 and it seems pretty good but my results don't seem to coincide. (I dont know my actual ROI because the site I play on does not track results so all I have is HM2 and the tournament reports is completely broken)

Although I am winning at a decent rate, my mediocre results have been bothering me psychologically. With a ~$20 Average Buy In my bb/100 is 14.5 and my EV bb/100 is 16.8 over 60k hands this year but I feel like I am not necessarily getting the results I want. I don't know if I am running bad or not playing as well as I think I am. Am I putting too much emphasis on how important EV bb/100 is in tournaments?

Appreciate the help and I can provide other statistics if needed.

60K hands is pretty small sample size. ROI is not what important because you can't control it. If your EV bb/100 is greater than 10 then you play really low stakes for your level.

Those are good stats
it's perfectly possible to be beating the games but losing money ROI is very much dependent on how we run in high equity situations later in tournaments

The only thing you could do is to break down the stats by stack size - check whether you are still winning for smaller stack sizes - An overall win rate can be skewed if you are winning massively at big stacksizes early in tournaments when the fish are still in and people overplay massively, but winning much less or losing in the 10-30BB region.

Nicely put and very much agree regarding breaking it down by stack size

I think EV bb/100 is is a useful measure for tournaments but it is limited in that it treats every hand equally even though there are so many dynamics at play that it just can't capture

I would look at your mid-late game play - filter for bb1k+ on stars and 5k+ party.
Especially if you are regging early for everything your results are going to be skewed as you play much deeper early vs many recs

Really appreciate the responses.
Here are the stats with different stack sizes.

Is there anything that stands out that I can improve on?

I'm sorry to intrude but I think was what meant is to filter by the size of the big blind, because in later stages the tournament has more tough opponents and there's also more to play for which might influence your game :-)

So filter for big blind size, not stack size compared to the BB!

I was looking at the same thing today in my own stats, and for BB above 50k (which is huge, even on Stars) i'm slightly losing but sample size is a problem. Overall I seem to to okay BB/100-wise ;-)
In PT4 it's quite easy to add a filter and choose between different big blind size.
