7 handed at my table, 2 tables, 12th pays, 13th walks. 13 left. 4k 8k w/ 1k ante. Folded to me in CO w/ Ad6s I have 64000, button has 62k, and sb covers slightly, bb is quite short, w/ around 20k back, and is a relatively conservative player. In fact, all 3 are quite conservative. I shove, button snaps (obv bad) bb / sb fold. Jacks snap me off, though luckily I am paid on the bubble with an agreement within tournament. Next hand auto call w/ my last 2k and brick soooo...
I know this is an ICM nightmare, how bad is my shove? I was just figuring I was deep enough considering the button / SB are effectively even w/ me that they would have to play quite conservatively against my shove, and the bb's hand was forced to fold quite a bit considering our position right on the cusp of the money. With an M of roughly 3ish, should I have been looking to squeak past the bubble and try to double up in this situation, or play only very premium hands? Had been pretty card dead, and figured another orbit could also drastically reduce my fold equity on steals. I should also mention noone at our table was an overwhelming chip leader, the biggest stack was perhaps 30k ahead of me, and the rest of us were roughly even in chips. All the money was up top, so I was making a play in an attempt to enlarge my stack / shoot for a top 3 contending stack with what was essentially a blind steal. Flames welcome.
