7th level of a $175 MTT with 127 entries. 100 ante with $800/$1600 blinds and 9 at our table. UTG makes it $5000. It fold to me and I call in the cutoff with 44 (no spade). It fold to the BB who calls. My stack is 80,000. BB is 60,000. UTG is 50,000.

Flop is 10s 7s 4h. BB checks. UTG bets 5,000. I call. BB raises to 15,000. UTG calls.

Could I have or should I have found a fold here?

Reads on your opponents?

I'm iffy on the preflop call unless I'm pretty sure one of the blinds will come along.

OTF, I'd raise, rather than call with the intent to play for stacks.

As played I get it in after the raise and call. I flop a set on this board, I'm playing it like a monkey.

Interesting hand.

You are deep enough to setmine, but typically you would want UTG to have $55,000+ so your preflop call is marginal.

On the flop, UTG looks to have an overpair, but we are more concerned with BB.

Assuming he's legit got something, let's give him a range that includes a bigger set, top two, and 5 strong combo draws. Looks like a greenlight to go

Facing an UTG 3.1x raise I'd probably just pitch 44 pf.

But as played, no way I'm folding on flop! At this point I'd probably just back-raise all in even though it would look strong, I think a flat call would look stronger.

Thanks for the replies. I found all useful.

I did not find a fold and Rapid_Fire's read of an overpair UTG, but worrying more about the BB was spot on. I shipped it hoping for an overpair in one spot and spade draw in the other, but also knowing I would still have 10+ bbs if lost and a huge chip up if my set holds up.

UTG had KK and BB flopped top set. Everybody is all in and UTG hits his king on the river.

Set over set over set is extremely rare. Just remember the old saying: "If you flop a set and lose and you don't lose a lot of money - you played it wrong."
