$200bi tournament. Top 15 are paid; 20 remain.
Blinds are at $4k/$8k, going to raise to $8k/$16k in one minute.

My stack is around $80k. There's 7 at the table.

All limp to me in the Button with Q8o. SB & BB have me covered. Neither are calling stations.

I move all-in. Was this a bad move? Should I have waited? I'm pretty confident, with the blinds raising, that my push wasn't bad. Q8o doesn't play that bad, even to two overs (non-paired), and I'm a coin-flip to an underpair. But, I certainly could be wrong and am curious what any have to say.

If it's 7 handed with a 10% ante and you have 10 blinds it's a slightly losing shove as per nash but not a disaster. If they're overfolding it's likely neutral.

Have you covered by how much? What is your chip position out of 20?

Even without knowing that I think it's fine. If you're somehow currently in the top 10 out of 20 and they have huge stacks it might change my opinion a little. But meh play to win.

The sb barely had me covered; the bb by like 20k. I was around the middle in chip position, but pretty much everyone (at least at my table) was less than 20bb.

End of story...Big Blind called with pocket Ks and I was knocked out in 20th.

these spots will depend alot on the villains. if they have no clue of icm/spew call then its a fold. if they are worried about icm and will overfold then your definitely okay getting it in.

personally id wait for a better spot but its close. not a big mistake either way

How are we supposed to construct our shoving range here?

Do we prefer broadway blockers?

Or do we actually prefer PPs and suited connectors?
