Hi folks, I'd like a couple of checks on lines I took in tournaments yesterday.

Hand 1:
PokerStars, $0.49 + $0.06 - Hold'em No Limit - 200/400 (60 ante) - 9 players
Hand delivered by CardsChat

UTG: 12,783 (32 bb)
UTG+1: 12,490 (31 bb)
MP: 11,115 (28 bb)
MP+1: 4,972 (12 bb)
LP: 10,614 (27 bb)
CO (Hero): 6,602 (17 bb)
BU: 15,482 (39 bb)
SB: 2,810 (7 bb)
BB: 12,000 (30 bb)

Pre-Flop: (1,140) Hero is CO with Q J
2 players fold, MP raises to 840, MP+1 calls 840, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets to 6,542 (all-in)

My thoughts at the time here were that my stack is dangerous to the two in the hand already, this is a good spot for a squeeze play. In hindsight though maybe QJ is too loose to do this with??

Hand 2:
PokerStars, $0.49 + $0.06 - Hold'em No Limit - 6,000/12,000 (1,000 ante) - 8 players
Hand delivered by CardsChat

UTG: 229,865 (19 bb)
UTG+1: 78,051 (7 bb)
MP: 967,736 (81 bb)
MP+1: 312,504 (26 bb)
CO: 622,399 (52 bb)
BU: 385,262 (32 bb)
SB: 476,028 (40 bb)
BB (Hero): 290,066 (24 bb)

Pre-Flop: (26,000) Hero is BB with A 7
5 players fold, BTN raises to 24,240, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets to 289,066 (all-in)

I'd not long been on the table, but the button player had been opening a fair few hands from what I'd seen. I figured his range will be pretty wide, and I didn't want to 3-bet and be OOP position in a poor spot with a pretty much a pot-committed stack. Overall I think I'm happy with this shove, but curious to know other's thoughts.

Honestly I would fold first hand and flat the second one. Given our stack and the table action, QJ is not a hand I would happily reshove with. Dead money is enticing but we're not squeezing a late position opener.

Conversely, I don't dislike your rejam from BB per se, reads on Villain makes the difference.
By having a look at these contexts under a Nash point of view, first hand is -EV and second one is +EV

Thanks. I thought QJ was marginal at best and the was the hand of the two I was more unsure about.

I thought about flatting hand 2, but didn't really want to be in a spot with middle or bottom pair and being shoved on. I figured even hitting an A and being shoved on would be uncomfortable, so I'd rather finish the hand pre. I probably would have flatted with A7s.

Ironically, I was called in both spots and won the first hand with trip J's after being called by AK and 99. The second I lost after button called with AQ for a 52nd place finish.

Where did you get the Nash EV info from?

I have the pro version of Preflop+ which is an android app. Very useful although it has its price

Both punts IMO.

Hand 1 is way too loose. You can jam with most pairs, big aces and strong suited broadways. You just don’t have a lot of FE and you’re gonna be dominated often when called.

Hand 2 is closer. You can defend a lot from the BB off 24bb vs BTN. If you had 15bbs I’d be happier about a jam.
