I decided to open 10Js although it was ofcourse not optimal from early position considering I had a CSI of around 8. Should I have folded pre?
Turning the open ender + 2 overs I obv. decided to cbet. Now the turn is another 8. I did not think he had too many 8x combo's calling from early pos against my stack size. So I decided to ship it in with a lot of equity and he would probably fold his small pockets, floating KJ's+. Unfortunatly he did have some random A8o and my equity turned out to not be that much .
Did I miss something? Checking the turn OOP is too weak right? Betting again or check / calling would leave me committed anyway and I would lose fold equity. Also I would not have a good bluff stack on the river.
How would you have played this hand? Should I have made the bet on the flop bigger? Around 800? (ofcourse it is still a call for 8x hands but if he had like floating pockets or KJ+ he might fold to a bigger bet?)
I think you played it fine. Dont really mind the open, the shove on the turn folds out weaker draws, floats and sometimes 9xs. Checking gives up the hand too often unless you realise your equity (will be folding most rivers) and wouldn't worry about sizing OTF either, I think whatever he's continuing for 600 he will for 800/900.
I'd go bigger on the flop (70-80%) and wouldn't mind getting it in here. We're going to have a lot of favourable turns if villain flats, i.e. A, K, Q, J, T, 7 and any club where we can shove. FWIW I don't think the 8h is a great turn to shove on, but considering where we are, it's not a terrible one either - unlucky that he happened to have the 8 and it was an easy decision for him.
